Abstract:
A plasma display panel includes designed to improve optical efficiently and to reduce misdischarging between discharge cells. The address electrodes have varying widths so that they are narrow in discharge cells and are relatively wide outside of discharge cells. Discharge gas filling the discharge cells have an elevated Xe content, preferably 10 to 30%. Other variations further include having striped and matrix patterned barrier ribs, forming the discharge sustain electrodes in tabs extending in pairs into the middle of the discharge cells, and varying the width of address electrodes at various locations outside of the discharge cells.
Abstract:
In a plasma display panel having a front glass substrate on which row electrode pairs and column electrodes are provided, a second additional dielectric layer projects from a portion of the rear-facing face of a first additional dielectric layer opposite to a transverse wall member of the partition wall toward a back glass substrate, and extends in the row direction to provide a block between the discharge cells C adjoining to each other in the column direction on both sides of the transverse wall member. The column-electrode width of the second additional dielectric layer is smaller than that of the transverse wall member of the partition wall.
Abstract:
A plasma display panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate opposed to each other, a plurality of sustain electrodes arranged parallel to each other on an inside surface of the first substrate, a plurality of ribs arranged orthogonally to the sustain electrodes on an inside surface of the second substrate, and elongated address electrodes each arranged between adjacent ribs, wherein adjacent sustain electrodes have a pair of protrusions projected in a direction approaching each other and one of the pairs of protrusions of two adjacent sustain electrode pairs is displaced from the other pair of protrusions along the sustain electrodes between the ribs.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an address electrode structure for a plasma display panel. The address electrode structure of the present invention has two conductor lines that are partially connected together. The connected part approximates the adjoined parts of the X electrode and the Y electrode in the illumination units.
Abstract:
An AC type plasma display panel is designed so as to have the relationships of Wb>Wg>Wr and Db>Dg>Dr, where Wb, Wg and Wr denote the widths of blue, green and red discharge cells and Db, Dg and Dr denote the widths of address electrodes (15b, 15g and 15r) corresponding to respective colors. As a result, it is possible to adjust the electric charge stored in the discharge cells due to a write discharge according to colors, thereby making complete lighting write voltages of the discharge cells uniform. This achieves the AC type plasma display panel with an excellent display quality that has less occurrence of erroneous discharge and discharge flicker and an improved white display quality.

Abstract:
The invention relates to an AC plasma display panel (12) of the surface discharge type, and more specifically to the structure of the address electrodes (5) of said panel, and to a method of driving said panel. According to the invention, only one address electrode (5) is used for one out of every two columns. Scan (8) and common (7) electrodes may comprise transparent parts (11). These parts (11) may extend over one out every two cells, in a checkerboard fashion. In a preferred embodiment as shown in FIG. 7, the columns may have alternating wide (15) and narrow (16) cells (2). In the driving method according to the invention, all rows are addressed during an addressing phase, and subsequently all rows are simultaneously sustained during a sustain phase.
Abstract:
A plasma display panel has a first substrate, plural pairs of display electrodes, a second substrate, and plural data electrodes. Each pair of the display electrodes is made up of a scanning electrode and a sustain electrode which are arranged parallel to each other on the first substrate. The second substrate is disposed opposite to the first substrate. A discharge space is formed between the first substrate and second substrate. The data electrodes are arranged in a direction perpendicular to the display electrodes on the second substrate. The data electrode is wider in peripheral portion of the second substrate than in a central portion of the second substrate.
Abstract:
A plasma display panel includes a front substrate and a rear substrate faced to each other to form a discharge space therebetween. The front substrate includes a plurality of display electrodes, each made of a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. The rear substrate includes a plurality of data electrodes intersected with the display electrodes. Discharges cells are formed at the intersections of the display electrodes and the data electrodes. The data electrodes have a plurality of main electrode parts in portions faced to the display electrodes, and wiring parts connecting the main electrode parts together and narrower than the main electrode parts. Further, each main electrode part is disposed so that ends thereof in the longitudinal direction of the data electrode substantially correspond to the furthest separated long sides of the scan electrode and the sustain electrode in the discharge cell.
Abstract:
A plasma display panel and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. The plasma display panel includes a substrate and a plurality of electrodes that are positioned substantially parallel to each other on the substrate. The plurality of electrodes include a first electrode in a first area of the substrate and a second electrode in a second area of the substrate outside the first area. A shape of a cross section of the first electrode is different from a shape of a cross section of the second electrode.
