A tool for reworking a connector attached to an electronic board having a plurality of stacked wafer modules thereon. The tool includes first and second jaws for grasping and removing a selected one of the modules from the board, a holding structure for holding the board, and movement structure for moving the two jaws relative to the holding structure, at least one of the jaws adapted for separating each selected module from a module on each opposing side of the selected module such that removal of the selected module is attained without damage to the separated, adjacent modules.
Abstract:
During the operation of an electrical machine, brush dust is generated as a result of a frictional wear of the brushes (5, 50), The brush dust is deposited in undesired locations of the electric machine and causes sparkovers or increased frictional resistance. In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the invention provides for a brush dust collecting device (41) comprising a dust collecting bead (6, 13, 21, 42) mounted in direct plurality to the slip ring (1, 11, 23, 53).
Abstract:
A contact for a pin receiving socket includes, in order, a top flange, an angled pin guiding portion, a first contact point, a recess, a second contact point, a flex shaft, an anchor portion, and an external connection portion. The contact, and preferably two identical contacts, is mounted in a pin receiving opening of a socket body. The anchor portion is secured in the socket body at the bottom of the pin receiving opening, and the external connection portion extends through and out of the socket body. When a pin is inserted, the first contact point rubs or wipes any debris or contaminants from the pin and the second contact point makes and electrical connection to the cleaned part of the pin.
Abstract:
A method and arrangement for improving electrical contact between a printed circuit board and an electrical component, wherein the electrical components have one or more spring contacts to provide electrical connection to one or more pads on the printed circuit board. The contacting point between a spring contact may be oxidized due to humidity, condensation water, chlorides or other environment agents. The oxidation at the contact point degrades the electrical connection and, eventually, causes a total loss in electrical contact. A vibration mechanism is used to cause the electrical components to move relative to the printed circuit board and the spring contacts to rub against the pads. The vibrating motion on the spring contacts cleans the contact points of undesirable materials at the contact points.
Abstract:
A flexible cleaning tool for cleaning corrosion from the contact arms and barrel of electrical jacks of the type frequently used in guitar amplifiers and public address systems. A low density polyethylene shaft is inserted into the jack and manipulated by moving the handle, whereby the flexibility of the shaft allows the shaft to bear upon the jack contact arms and jack barrel interior in a manner which is highly conducive to efficient and thorough cleaning. The dislodged corrosion attaches to the shaft allowing the corrosion to be transported from the interior of the jack enclosure where it can be easily washed from the shaft.
Abstract:
A front connector insert includes a removable front portion and a rear portion which is fixed in the connector. The rear portion retains the terminus of an optical fiber or electrical cable, with the removable front portion being removable to expose the terminus for cleaning or testing. The removable front portion includes a latching clip having a detent at one end which engages an indentation in the fixed portion of the insert when the removable portion of the insert is aligned with the fixed portion such that the clips align with grooves in the fixed insert. Removal of the removable portion of the insert is accomplished using a simple removal tool having an L-shaped extension which is inserted into a corresponding L-shaped recess in the front insert, the removal tool being rotated following insertion so that the removable insert can easily be removed from the connector to expose the optical fiber termini and contacts and permit testing or cleaning. In the case of an optical fiber connector, alignment sleeves and/or tubes may be captured within the removable front portion of the insert so as to prevent loss of the alignment tubes or sleeves upon removal of the removable insert from the connector.

A tool used for straightening and spreading damaged electrical stage pin connectors. The tool consists of a handle and a tube which form a T-shape, there are two opposing holes on the handle for strightening bent pins with one end of the handle being tapered for tight fits. The tube embodies a blade affixed in the bottom of the tube and recessed from the mouth of the tube for prevention of laceration.
Abstract:
A kit for cleaning the contacts on video game consoles and cartridges comprises a cleaning solution, a cleaning clip, a cleaning card and a pair of cleaning wands. The cleaning solution is applied to the contacts of the console or the cartridge using one end of the cleaning card to remove dirt and other low voltage build up. The contacts are then dried with the opposite end of the cleaning card. For areas of the contacts that are difficult to reach with the cleaning card, two cleaning wands are provided. One wand is used for cleaning and the other for drying. Each wand is an angled oblong member with a porous fabric attached on the operational end. Additionally, the cleaning clip is sized for attachment to the game cartridge and cleans the contacts in the console. After the clip is attached, solution is placed on the clip and the cartridge is repeatedly removed and inserted from the console to brush the clip across the contacts and apply the cleaning solution.

A method and apparatus is provided to produce a gold, inlaid contact surface for an electrical contact device by welding gold ribbon segments to the contact device wire base prior to the coining, trimming, slotting and various other forming operations which transform the wire base into a finished contact device. The apparatus features a sequential arrangement of gripping devices which manipulate the gold ribbon for processing as stated above, a welding apparatus for combining the gold ribbon segment with the contact wire base, a cutting device for cutting the gold ribbon and apparatus for forming the finished electrical contact device. The product features a formed contact device including a wire support member and a contact material simultaneously formed and flattened, to provide a minimum amount of inlaid or coined gold for effecting desirable contact characteristics. The grain of the contact material is transversely oriented to the grain of the wire support member for improved flexure performance of the product and the contact material is substantially planar with the wire support to avoid chipping.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for monitoring a brush holder assembly and/or detecting wear of a brush in a brush holder assembly are disclosed. One method includes sending data from a plurality of remote monitoring locations to a central control unit, where the data may be evaluated in order to monitor states of brushes at a plurality of remote electrical facilities. For example, multiple images of a marker tracking longitudinal movement of the brush may be acquired. A comparison of the images, for example, a comparative imaging technique, such as pixel-by-pixel comparison, may then be performed in order to evaluate a condition of the brush, such as the wear rate, wear state, or life expectancy of the brush.
