Abstract:
Image processing apparatus and method perform a predetermined compression processing for an input original. A compression processing method or a receiver of compressed data is changed in accordance with a color/black-and-white status discrimination for the input original, or is set manually.
Abstract:
A Mobile Switching Center (MSC) includes a cellular modem pool that comprises a number of pairs of modems in which the data terminal equipment (DTE) ports of each modem pair are cross-connected in a "back-to-back" fashion. This allows the two modems of each pair to interchange data via their DTE ports and thereby isolate that portion of a cellular fax call over the cellular communications channel from that portion of the cellular fax call through the PSTN. Fax information is transmitted over the PSTN-portion of the cellular fax call using a "1-D" fax compression scheme. However, fax information is transmitted over the cellular-portion of the cellular fax call using a "2-D" fax compression scheme and a data modulation as specified in AT&T Paradyne's "Enhanced Throughput Cellular" (ETC) Protocol. The fax terminal equipment at the cellular end of the cellular fax call is configured to perform fax compression/decompression using the "2-D" fax compression scheme. The PSTN-side modem of the cellular modem pool performs the translation between the "2-D" and "1-D" fax compression schemes transmitted on the cellular-side and PSTN-side, respectively.
Abstract:
In an information processing system in which an input apparatus (10) which can input information and can transmit the input information, and a processing apparatus (7) which can process received information are connected to a network (4), and which system can realize a function of inputting and processing information by the network as a whole, information input by the input apparatus is controlled to be divisionally or simultaneously transmitted in correspondence with the relationship between the input apparatus (10) and the processing apparatus (7) in the network.
Abstract:
In recording a received image in an image communication apparatus, there is discriminated whether the received image is to be recorded as a color image or as a monochromatic image, then determined is which of plural cartridges is to be used according to the result of discrimination, and the received image is recorded with thus determined cartridge. In the apparatus capable of color and monochromatic image recording, it is thus made possible to reduce the overall cost and the electric power consumption, and to facilitate the maintenance.
Abstract:
A controller apparatus and method for executing a plurality of control functions for communication of multimedia articles including voice, audio, text, still image, motion video and animated graphics which incorporates a frame memory system which is compatible with multiple standard or customized coding algorithmic signals such as H.261, MPEG, JPEG, EDTV or HDTV or in multiple incompatible video coding equipment employing different video coding algorithms can now freely communicate with each other, the controller apparatus further including a band width management function for automatically scaling the multimedia article signal to conform to available band width.
Abstract:
The present invention has a transmission side apparatus to which an image to be transmitted is inputted, and an outline vector along the edge of the inputted image is extracted. The transmission side apparatus transmits data of the extracted outline vector to a receiving side apparatus via a data line. The receiving side apparatus reproduces the image in accordance with received outline vector data so as to output it to a predetermined visible image generating apparatus.
Abstract:
System and method for minimizing data bottlenecks in Low Data Rate Networks (LDRNs) that communicate facsimile transmissions. An LDRN is a facsimile network having a transmission data rate less than the data rate of the FAX machines serviced by the network. The system and method can be implemented in any type of LDRN, including analog and digital wired LDRNs, as well as analog and digital wireless (e.g., cellular) LDRNs. The system and method involve processing the facsimile transmissions in order to make the data rates of the LDRN and the FAX machines compatible, thereby minimizing any potential facsimile data bottlenecks that may occur in the LDRN due to its slower data rate.
Abstract:
In a color facsimile apparatus, a color scanner converts an original image into color image data, and a transmitter transmits the color image data in either a color transmission mode or a monochromatic transmission mode. A processor processes the color image data as processed color image data or processed monochrome image data according to the transmission mode of the transmitter. The data is displayed on a monitor, prior to transmission, in a first mode as a monochrome image and in a second mode as a color image.
Abstract:
Communication system and method including a calling apparatus and a called apparatus. The system comprises handshake means for exchanging negotiation information including error correction ECM capabilities data, contained in a plurality of command frames between the calling apparatus and the called apparatus. The system further includes means for initiating an error correction operation, a transmitter for transmitting and receiving between the calling and the called apparatus a data set having associated data frame identification information, and verification means for verifying receipt of the data set. A method corresponding to the system also is described.
Abstract:
When data communication is to be performed, character code data and image data are divided into different block areas, the block area of the image data is further divided into block areas in accordance with image characteristics of the image data, and the data of the respective block areas are communicated, thereby efficiently communicating the data.
