摘要: An automatically dimming mirror includes a dimming element having variable reflectivity, the degree of reflectivity based on a control signal. An ambient light sensor is positioned to receive light from a region generally in front of the vehicle. The ambient light sensor outputs a discrete ambient light signal based on the amount of light incident on the ambient light sensor over an integration period. A glare sensor is positioned to view the scene generally behind the vehicle operator. The glare sensor outputs a discrete glare signal based on the amount of light incident on the glare sensor over an integration period. A dimming logic determines an ambient light level based on the ambient light signal. The glare integration period is determined based on the ambient light level. The glare signal resulting from the glare integration period determines a mirror glare level used to set the dimming element control signal.

摘要: An axial lead screw having one end pivotally connected to a rearview mirror is threadedly engaged by a motor driven worm gear, which upon rotation effects axial movement of the lead screw. A pair of flux collectors are disposed on opposite sides of the lead screw adjacent the distal end. A Hall effect sensor is disposed in one of the flux collectors. The distal end of the lead screw is magnetized and the Hall effect sensor provides a signal indicative of the lead screw movement. In one embodiment, the lead screw is magnetized; and, in another embodiment a permanent magnet is inserted in a bore in the distal end of the lead screw.

摘要: A method is provided for making a micromirror unit which includes a frame, a mirror forming base, and bridges connecting the frame to the mirror forming base. The method includes the following steps. First, a first mask pattern is formed on a substrate for masking portions of the substrate which are processed into the frame and the mirror forming base. Then, a second mask pattern is formed on the substrate for masking portions of the substrate which are processed into the bridges. Then, the substrate is subjected to a first etching process with the first and the second mask patterns present as masking means. Then, the second mask pattern is removed selectively. Then, the substrate is subjected to a second etching process with the first mask pattern present as masking means. Finally, the first mask pattern is removed.

摘要: A lensless focusing device for receiving an unfocused laser beam and creating a desired output pattern of laser profiles. The focusing device includes a pair of wedge plates oriented at a reflective angle relative to the projection axis of the input laser beam. The focusing device generates an output pattern having a plurality of spaced laser profiles. The laser profiles include a series of fixed laser profiles and a series of adjustable laser profiles. Rotation of the focusing device about the projection axis of the input laser beam moves the adjustable laser profiles relative to the fixed laser profiles. Multiple focusing devices can be used in series with each other to generate an output pattern having a grid shape in which points on the grid are movable upon rotation of either focusing device.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to an optical cavity, comprising a first non-concave reflector positioned at a first end of the optical cavity and a second non-concave reflector positioned at a second end of the optical cavity that receives and reflects light reflected from the first non-concave reflector. The first non-concave reflector is configured to focus light that reflects off of the reflector back upon itself to avoid diffraction losses from the optical cavity. In one embodiment of the invention, the first non-concave reflector includes a layer of material that has a thickness that vanes as a function of radial distance out from an axial center of the layer. In another embodiment of the invention, the first non-concave reflector includes a layer of material that has an index of refraction that varies as a function of radial distance out from an axial center of the layer.

摘要: This invention proposes a rotation restricting structure of an automobile door mirror, in which a shaft is erected on the top surface of a projection portion of a mirror base, and in which a frame for supporting a mirror body is turnably fitted onto the shaft, and in which a stopper member for restricting a turning angle by engaging with the frame is provided between the frame and the shaft. The stopper member comprises a projection, which is formed on the shaft base portion in such a way as to be integral therewith, and an angle adjusting plate provided separately from the projection. The adjusting plate having a thickness corresponding to a folding angle of the door mirror is attached to each or one of both the opposite side surfaces of the projection. Thus, even when the folding angle of the mirror body is changed, the frame and the shaft can be used in common among the door mirrors. Moreover, the strength of the stopper can be increased.

摘要: A freely rotatable microelectromechanical mirror and mirror array. Each mirror is connected to a plate flexibly suspended from a plurality of actuators by a plurality of plate flexures. The actuators are flexibly suspended from a support structure by a plurality of actuator flexures. The support structure is held above and electrically isolated from a reference layer by a plurality of standoff posts. The reference layer contains a plurality of actuation means such as control electrodes to move the actuators in first and second directions when actuated. Control voltages can be selectively applied to selective control electrodes to selectively move the actuators, and extend the plurality of plate flexures. The extended plate flexures create a net restoring force or torque to translate or rotate the freely movable plate. The plate and attached mirror are thereby translated or rotated about an arbitrary axis of rotation without stress.

摘要: An accessory-mounting assembly for mounting accessories at a distance from exterior surfaces of a vehicle. The accessory-mounting assembly is constructed such that it has a nullbreak awaynull feature whereby an accessory-mounting component may pivot about a pivot axis when it is subjected to a substantial impact. Thus, the risk of damage to the vehicle, the accessory-mounting assembly, and the accessories mounted to the accessory-mounting assembly when the accessory-mounting assembly is subjected to a substantial impact is reduced. The accessory-mounting assembly includes four brackets that are fixedly engaged to exterior surfaces of the vehicle and from which the other components of the accessory mounting assembly are suspended. Three of the four brackets that are fixedly engaged to the vehicle are integrally engaged to one another.

摘要: An optical cross-connect (OCX) contains an optical switching array (A, S) based on MEM technology, which is used for switching optical connections. The switching array (A) consists of a plurality of movable miniature mirrors (M), with a reflective coating (RL), respectively arranged in the light path of the individual optical connections. In order to generate a monitoring signal for each of the optical communication signals to be switched, a light component (THRU) passing through the reflective coating (RL) is detected at least at some of the miniature mirrors (M). To that end, the miniature mirror (M) has a photosensitive layer (PL) which is arranged under a light-reflecting layer (RL) and which responds to the light components (THRU) passing through the light-reflecting layer, in order to generate the monitoring signal.
