    摘要: A tube positioning tool for remotely positioning a replacement tube into axial alignment and interfitting engagement with an existing tube, and method for its use. The forward end section of the elongated pressurizable tube positioning tool is first inserted through the replacement tube and into the existing tube end, after which the forward end is clamped into position therein by pressurizing the tool and expanding the tool nose end. Next, the tool body rear piston is pressurized and the replacement tube is moved forward into axial alignment and interfitting engagement with the adjacent existing tube. Then the tool body front piston is pressurized to expand a resilient mandrel and the rear portion of the replacement tube is expanded firmly into the opening in the tube sheet. Following such replacement tube installation, the tool is depressured and withdrawn from the tubes.

    摘要: A bladder mandrel utilizing a sleeve of Pellethane.RTM. to effect tube expansions is disclosed herein. The sleeve which forms the bladder of the mandrel terminates in sealing beads which include fluid-capturing recesses. When the beads of the sleeve are secured within grooves provided in the mandrel body, pressurized fluid flowing through the fluid port of the mandrel enters the fluid-capturing recesses of the beads and sealingly engages these beads within their respective grooves. The sleeve consequently fills with the pressurized fluid, and effects the desired tube expansion. The walls of the sleeve are thinnest at their center portion, and become progressively thicker toward the sealing beads. The use of a Pellethane.RTM. sleeve having a centrally disposed thin-walled section results in a bladder mandrel having a relatively small outer diameter, which in turn allows it to be inserted within a tube without the need for lubricants. Additionally, the invention includes a pair of grooved joints for conveniently detaching the sealing beads of the sleeve from the body of the mandrel when replacement of the sleeve is necessary.

    摘要: A swaging mandrel is inserted in a tube confined by a tube sheet or other surrounding structure. A pair of seals define the axial limits of a hydraulic pressure zone within the tube sheet in which radial expansion of the tube takes place in response to fluid pressure. At the secondary side of the tube sheet, an elastomeric ring extends beyond the tube sheet and, in response to the fluid pressure, produces an attenuated radial expansion force that bulges the tube to produce a tight seal at the tube sheet surface and a positive mechanical interlock between the tube and the tube sheet.

    摘要: A composite sleeve for use in a hot-rolling roll for H-section steel and channel steel comprises a working layer adapted to contact the material to be rolled and composed of two layers, i.e., a first outer layer made of one of adamite with graphite, spheroidal graphite cast iron and adamite having high resistance to sticking, and a second outer layer made of adamite or high chromium iron having high resistance to wear; and an inner layer adapted to be out of contact with the material and made of spheroidal graphite cast steel or spheroidal graphite cast iron having high toughness. The first outer layer covers the second outer layer, and the second outer layer covers the inner layer, the three layers of the first outer layer, the second outer layer and the inner layer being joined together by melting.

    摘要: The expansion of the primary tubes or sleeves of the steam generator of a nuclear reactor plant are measured while the tubes or sleeves are being expanded. A primary tube or sleeve is expanded by high pressure of water which flows through a channel in an expander body. The water is supplied through an elongated conductor and is introduced through a connector on the shank connected to the conductor at its outer end. A wire extends through the mandrel and through the conductor to the end of the connector. At its inner end the wire is connected to a tapered pin which is subject to counteracting forces produced by the pressure of the water. The force on the side where the wire is connected to the conductor is smaller than on the opposite side. The tapered pin is moved in the direction of the higher force and extrudes the wire outwardly of the conductor. The tapered surface of the tapered pin engages transverse captive plungers which are maintained in engagement with the expanding tube or sleeve as they are moved outwardly by the tapered pin. The wire and the connector extend out of the generator and, at its outer end, the wire is connected to an indicator which measures the extent to which the wire is moved by the tapered pin, thus measuring the expansion of the tube or sleeve as it progresses.

    摘要: A process and apparatus for joining a tube into a tube sheet opening. After a tube is inserted into a tube sheet opening, compression and subsequent radial expansion of an elastomeric material inside the tube causes the elastomer to radially expand the tube wall creating an interference fit between the tube and inner wall of the tube sheet opening. A portion of the elastomer positioned exterior to the tube sheet face expands to a greater radial diameter than the portion of the elastomer within the tube sheet opening resulting in radial expansion of the tube wall toward the tube sheet face to create a sealing effect between the tube and tube sheet.

    摘要: An apparatus for actuating a tube guide expander device inserted in a tube end and extracting it therefrom subsequent to tube expansion induced by guide-expander actuation. The apparatus includes inner and outer sleeve structures which are independently axially displaceable relative to the tube and guide-expander. The outer sleeve structure is engageable with a first compression structure of the device to secure it and its engaged tube in place during relative axial displacement of a second compression structure of the device.Selectively coupling the inner sleeve structure to the device's second compression structure and axial displacement of both axially compresses a radial expansion element situated between the compression structures and expands the enclosing tube. A series of balls are radially displaceable from an outer unobstructing position through radial openings in the inner sleeve structure and an intermediate sleeve structure to an inner obstructing position protruding into the inner sleeve structure's bore so as to axially engage a portion of the second compression structure and prevent its extraction from the bore during axial displacement of the inner sleeve structure. Radial displacement of the balls is provided by selective axial displacement of the intermediate sleeve structure arranged about the inner sleeve structure. Simultaneous axial displacement of the inner and outer sleeve structures away from the tube with the balls in obstructing position subsequent to the tube's expansion enables extraction of the guide-expander from the tube.
