摘要： An improved polyamide yarn is prepared by first applying to the yarn an aqueous emulsion of an oxidized polyethylene wax having an average molecular weight between about 1,000 and about 3,000, and containing between about 3 percent and about 9 percent oxygen by weight, thereafter heating said yarn to a temperature between about 100*C. and about 175*C., and then applying to said yarn a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of colloidal silica and a polyethylene glycol ester of a C6 to C18 aliphatic acid, said polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of about 200 to 600. The yarn is particularly useful for industrial purposes such as braided hose, rope belts, etc.

摘要： An apparatus for spinning a filament includes a vertical spindle carrying a bobbin of filament to be spun and having a balloonlimiting bell surrounding the bobbin and formed with an upwardly open mouth. The spindle carries at its upper end an upwardly tapered guide pin which projects through the bell mouth and around which the filament is wound several times. The filament is pulled tangentially off this guide pin at an acute angle to the spindle axis as the bell, spindle, and guide pin are rotated about this axis. A tensioning rod may be provided between the pin and the driven takeup spool. This rod is displaceable and may be resiliently biased parallel to the spindle axis. No other filament guide is provided on the bell.

摘要： A cleaning roller assembly for a textile yarn processing machine for cleaning dust and undesirable particles from the yarn. The assembly comprises a pair of rotatable cooperating roller discs forming a groove therebetween for receiving yarn therearound to frictionally clean the yarn. The assembly further includes a funnel-shaped air suction conduit secured to and surrounding one of the roller discs and extending coaxially from the axis of rotation of the roller discs for rotation with the roller disc, and a stationary air conduit mounted coaxially with and extending from the rotary funnel-shaped suction conduit and being in cooperative suction communication therewith. By the above assembly, an air suction stream is created which flows from around the yarn receiving and cleaning groove coaxially with the axis of rotation of the roller discs to eliminate undesirable accumulations of dust and other particles which might cause clogging and prevent free rotation of the roller disc.
