    摘要： A recoil starter construction for internal combustion engines particularly suitable for use with engines of the type used with snowmobiles and other recreational vehicles subject to heavy duty use. The starter employs a lightweight plastic rope pulley having a radially spaced shoulder within a rope receiving groove, and rope guide means defined within the groove insure the laying of the rope in the groove during recoiling in a predetermined manner which minimizes rope bind during cranking. The starter also utilizes a cam dog of a generally flat configuration having an outer periphery including dog-extending and dog-retaining surfaces, the cam dog positively retaining the engine clutch engaging dogs against operative contact with the flywheel components when the starter has recoiled and rewound the starter rope.

    摘要： Disclosed herein is a marine propulsion device comprising a starter including a rotatable starter shaft, a pinion carried on the shaft for movement relative to the shaft and to an engaged position in mesh with an engine starting gear, means for rotating the starter shaft in opposite directions, cooperating means on the shaft and on the pinion for displacing the pinion to the engaged position in response to rotation of the shaft in one direction, a recess in the starter shaft, and a bolt cooperating with the recess in the shaft and selectively locatable in a first position in the recess for preventing rotation of the shaft in the one direction and in a second position withdrawn from the recess for permitting rotation of the shaft. The marine propulsion device also includes a reversing transmission shiftable between a drive condition and a neutral condition, and a linkage connecting the transmission to the bolt for displacing the bolt to the first position when the transmission is in a drive condition and for displacing the bolt to the second position when the transmission is in neutral position.

    摘要： Starter mechanism for a high speed engine having epicyclic output speed reduction gearing rendering cranking difficult. A starter pinion shaft with a pinion at an inner end and a starter pulley at an outer end, the shaft slidable inwards and outwards for engagement and disengagement of the pinion with a ring gear applying multiplied torque to the crankshaft through a part of the reduction gearing. Beveled teeth on nondriving faces of the teeth of the pinion provide automatic disengagement as the engine starts.
