    摘要: A system for separating mixed signal sources by processing a received signal through the combination of a beamforming network and an adaptive Herault-Jutten network. The conventional Herault-Jutten network is useful for separating independent signals that have been linearly mixed, but cannot separate a mixture of several independent signals in free field conditions because of the propagation time delays between sources and sensors. The system of this invention combines planar beamforming techniques with a conventional HJ network to adaptively distinguish among signals having delays introduced by the propagation medium. A new sensor filter scheme is introduced to eliminate beamforming variation with frequency over the band of interest. The resulting system has application to adaptive interferer rejection and to acoustic and cellular communications receivers.

    摘要: A method of detecting the division of a radar target can detect a target, for instance caused by the release of a weapon from an aircraft which is tracked by a monopulse radar whose antenna is aligned onto the target with the aid of azimuth and/or elevation difference signals. Division of the radar target can be detected irrespective of whether the target is equipped with and uses an interference transmitter, by establishing a search channel in the radar difference channels. This channel has a sensitivity which is very low in a direction towards the tracked target, but which increases rapidly in directions which deviate somewhat from the direction towards the target. The search channel can be established by comparison of the absolute values of the signal levels in the difference channels with a threshold value.

    摘要: A static-split tracking radar system with substantially improved performance. The system includes parallel signal processing channels for processing sum and difference signals from a target-seeking aerial array, to produce target tracking signals. Novel means are provided for trimming relative phase and gain of these channels to achieve substantially perfect matching, which gives a receiver stability sufficient for homing head use in a guided missile system. The system also includes a receiver for acquiring a reference frequency signal, the receiver having novel bandwidth adaptation and doppler tracking facilities. Other novel features provide improved clutter rejection and jamming immunity.

    摘要: The radar comprises in known manner a transmitter (1), a transmitting antenna (E.sub.1), two receiving antennas (R.sub.1,R.sub.2), mixers (6,7) and means for processing the subtractive beat signals supplied by the mixers for effecting detection of the bearing of a target (10) and of the range and/or the relative velocity of the target. According to the invention, a target simulator is provided to correct the phase errors of electrical and mechanical origins. The simulator comprises a transmission circuit including a modulator (11) and a simulated target echo transmission antenna (E.sub.2) which transmits towards the receiving antenna. The radar also includes means for processing a beat signal derived from the simulated echo and for effecting detection of the simulated target bearing and means for correcting phase errors.

    摘要: Discrimination between sidelobe and main beam reception of interference signals in a lobe on receive only radar is accomplished by a method of operation in which interference signals are stored and averaged for the radar receive beam positions of boresight, up, down, left and right. Interference signals received at boresight are compared with interference signals received at each off-boresight beam position. Interference signals received at boresight are also differenced with interference signals received at the off-boresight beam positions and the results are compared with beam width defining threshold factors. The determined values are applied to logic functions that indicate reception of interference signals outside of the main beam pattern.

    摘要: A protective system for a vehicle-borne tracking radar, designed to counter the effect of an off-target jammer whose interfering signals are picked up by a directive antenna together with echoes from an actual target, comprises a receiver with a sum channel and a difference channel. In the absence of a jammer, the sum channel is connected via a signal processor to telemetric circuitry in the radar associated with the vehicular guidance system which keeps the antenna axis trained upon the target as the vehicle homes in on same. When a strong jamming signal is detected, a switching device in the processor cuts off the sum channel from the telemetric circuitry and supplies the latter, instead, with rectified error signals from the difference channel, these error signals being also delivered prior to rectification to a tracking-control circuit which energizes an antenna rotator to hold its axis in line with the jammer. The presence of a jammer may be detected by a signal-level comparator with two circuit branches connected to the sum channel, these branches including respective integrators which are alternately supplied with incoming signals in a target window and in a jammer window occurring at different instants of a recurrence period. Another possible jammer-signal detector, which may be included in the processor, receives the rectified error signal from the difference channel in the target window and produces a "jammer present" signal whenever the accumulated error signals exceed a predetermined threshold.

    摘要: Apparatus for generating elevation and azimuth reference signals for use in demodulating a tracking error signal to provide elevation and azimuth error components for use in adjusting the position of a tracking conical scan radar antenna, includes a template ring having a notched periphery and being attached to a rotatable nutator of the antenna such that its peripheral notches are in a predetermined angular phase relationship with a reference position on a feed horn attached on the nutator, during rotation of the feed horn with the nutator. The apparatus further includes an optical transducer and electronic circuitry coupled thereto for producing the reference signals from a signal generated by the transducer in response to rotation of the ring with the nutator. As the ring rotates with the nutator, its notched periphery makes or breaks a photon path between light beam generating and sensing elements of the transducer. The sensing element then generates the signal which is received by the electronic circuitry. In addition to the two reference signals produced by the circuitry, a sync signal is generated and used internally within the circuitry to insure that the reference signals produced are in a proper phase relationship to the reference position on the feed horn of the nutator during rotation thereof.

    摘要: A radar system of the type utilizing an optimal estimator to process raw range and angle track data for driving a radar antenna, where the tracking computations, range rate, and angular rate of the range vector are utilized in estimating the target velocity vector and the target acceleration vector. The attenuation inherent in the practical estimation of target acceleration is effectively removed for severely maneuvering targets by a compensating system that provides an attenuation factor, and multiplies the estimated acceleration output signal by the reciprocal of such factor. The implement control system is governed by the estimated target position and estimated target velocity from the estimator, and the modified acceleration signal of the compensating system.
