Abstract: A wireless network environment includes user equipment. A communication management resource in the user equipment establishes a wireless communication link between the user equipment and a first wireless station. The first wireless station provides the user equipment access to a remote network. Based on operating conditions of the user equipment, the communication management resource initiates execution of a paging notification retrieval function on the user equipment to retrieve paging notifications. Via the executed function (such as an application executed on the user equipment), and one or more request messages for paging notifications, the communication management resource communicates with a remote entity to retrieve the paging notifications.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for prioritizing spectrum and controlling data traffic steering within a wireless network. In one embodiment, the apparatus and methods provide enhanced wireless services which allow network operators to prioritize utilization of spectrum for their subscribers. In one variant, an enhanced 3GPP UE Route Selection Policy (URSP) framework is provided for a UE connected to 5G wireless network, which allows the UE to use one or more prioritized 3GPP spectrum Band Class(es) based on one or more selection criterion or preconditions. In another variant, UE location information is used to dynamically update a data traffic steering mode or other functionality of an enhanced ATSSS (Access Traffic Steering, Switching, and Splitting) rule framework is described for dynamic control of steering or routing functionality, including between 3GPP- and non-3GPP network accesses for the data traffic.

Abstract: A method for adapting Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) traffic flows at a provider equipment (PE) node and an apparatus implementing the method are described. The PE node provides backhaul services to endpoint devices communicating with the PE node via respective wireless channels. The method performs: at the PE node, in response to a requirement to cease transmitting on wireless channels supporting current TCP connections with the endpoint devices: (i) transmitting messages to the endpoint devices configured to cause the endpoint devices to continue transmitting currently buffered uplink (UL) data to the PE node via respective UL TCP connections using corresponding last successful TCP congestion window (cwin) sizes; and (ii) transmitting currently buffered downlink (DL) data from the PE node to the endpoint devices via respective DL TCP connections using corresponding last successful TCP cwin sizes.

Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for a caller identification (ID) method and system that can provide caller ID information to display on devices other than the wireless equipment device that is receiving the phone call. This can include televisions and other streaming devices associated with the user receiving the phone call. The mobile wireless network associated with the user's wireless user equipment can determine whether the user has an additional device on which caller ID is to be displayed, and then identify a media server associated with the additional device. Once identified, the mobile wireless network can provide the media server with the caller ID information so that it can be displayed on the television or other streaming device.

Abstract: Via generation of tracking information, a management resource tracks availability of multiple types of wireless technologies at multiple geographical regions in a network environment. The communication management resource receives a current location of a first vehicle and uses the current location to determine that the first vehicle resides within a first geographical region of the multiple geographical regions. The communication management resource then uses the tracking information to determine multiple types of wireless technologies supported at the current location in which the first vehicle resides. The communication management resource then selects amongst the multiple types of wireless technologies to establish wireless connectivity between the first vehicle and the remote network.

Abstract: Network traffic through a router, e.g., home router, operating as a firewall is monitored and analyzed the network to identify devices and the type of one or more of the identified devices. In some embodiments, the device type identification is performed using a neural network. The router stores a set of firewall templates. At different times, different templates are applied, e.g. based on mode of operation, user selection, and/or time information. Rules in a firewall template, applicable at a given time to traffic corresponding to identified devices, that are attempting to send or receive via the router, are applied. Different rules may, and sometimes do, apply to different device type classifications.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed to identify defects in a cable plant including a cable comprises a carriage and a roller attached to the carriage. The roller is configured to sit on a cable plant. A motor is attached to the carriage and is coupled to the roller to cause rotation of the roller in at least a first direction, to cause movement of the carriage across the cable plant. A transmitter is attached to the carriage and an antenna is coupled to the transmitter. The antenna is configured to emit an RF signal under the control of the transmitter. If there is a defect in the cable, the RF signal may enter the cable through a defect. Detection of the RF signal in the cable is indicative of the presence of a defect in the cable and the location of the defect. Methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: Method and systems for detecting and mitigating a malicious bot. Threat information is obtained, the threat information identifying one or more indicators of compromise (IOC) corresponding to suspected or known malicious network traffic. A control list (CL) corresponding to the threat information is generated, the CL describing rules for identifying network flows to be logged in a network log. The network log identifying the network flows is obtained and a suspect network flow identified by both the threat information and the network log is identified. An address corresponding to the suspect network flow is identified and the address is correlated with a user identifier. A notification is issued to a user associated with the user identifier, the notification indicating a suspected existence of a malicious bot.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) receives time division duplexing (TDD) configuration information from a master node (MN), with which the UE is communicating using a first band of unlicensed spectrum and receives TDD configuration information from a secondary node (SN), which is being added to support communications with the UE using a second band of unlicensed spectrum. The UE compares the two TDD structures, identifying DL and UL slots in SN TDD structure which correspond to DL and UL time intervals in the MN TDD structure, designating at least some of those SN slots as preferred DL slots and preferred UL slots. The UE communicates information indicating its preferred DL slots and preferred UL slots in an assistance message to the SN. The SN using UE slot preference information, selects DL and UL slots to be used for UE communications and implements a TDD structure, which avoids an IDC problem.
