Abstract: A sliding member includes a sliding layer including graphite particles dispersed in a synthetic resin matrix. The graphite particles have a volume ratio of 5% to 50% and are composed of spheroidal particles and flake-like particles, respectively having a graphitization degree K1 and K2. The flake-like particles have a volume ratio of 10 to 40% with respect to a total volume of the graphite particles. The spheroidal particles have a cross-sectional structure with AB planes of a graphite crystal laminated from a surface toward a center. The flake-like particles have a cross-sectional structure with the AB planes laminated in a thickness direction. The spheroidal particles and the flake-like particles have an average particle size of 3 to 50 μm, and 1 to 25 μm respectively. K1 is 0.80 to 0.97 and K2 is greater than K1, and a difference K2 −K1 is 0.03 to 0.15.

Abstract: Provided is a semi-annular shaped half thrust bearing. The half thrust bearing has a sliding surface and a back surface opposite to the sliding surface. The sliding surface includes a plurality of recesses. Each recess has a recess surface recessed from the sliding surface toward the back surface. The recess surface is convex toward the back surface in cross-sectional view in a center line direction of the half thrust bearing. The recess surface includes a plurality of grooves. The grooves are recessed from the recess surface toward the back surface. The grooves extend in the center line direction so that smooth surfaces and the grooves are alternately arranged on the recess surface in a horizontal direction of the half thrust bearing.

Abstract: A main bearing for a journal portion of a crankshaft includes a pair of upper and lower half bearings combined with each other to form a cylindrical shape. Only the upper half bearing includes an oil groove formed on its inner peripheral surface to extend in a circumferential direction, an oil hole piercing from the oil groove to an outer peripheral surface of the upper half bearing, and a plurality of axial grooves formed on its inner peripheral surface to extend in an axial direction so as to intersect with the oil groove. A groove depth D2 of the axial groove is not more than 10% of a groove depth D1 of the oil groove, and an axial length L2 of the axial groove is not less than 70% of an axial length L1 of the upper half bearing.

Abstract: Provided is a semi-cylindrical-shaped half bearing having an inner surface including a center zone and end zones each including a plurality of recesses. Each recess includes a groove forming zone adjacent to the peripheral edge and including a plurality of circumferential grooves extending from the peripheral edge along the circumferential direction. An area ratio S2 of an area of the groove forming zone to an area of the recess in the end zone is larger than an area ratio S1 in the center zone. A maximum depth D4 of the circumferential groove in the end zone is larger than a maximum depth D2 of the circumferential groove in the center zone. A sliding bearing of the present invention includes the above half bearing.

Abstract: Provided is a sliding material including a substrate; and a copper alloy layer bonded to the substrate. The copper alloy includes 2.0 to 15.0% by mass of tin. The copper alloy layer includes a sliding body part including a sliding surface, and a gradient region including a bond surface with the substrate. A tin concentration in the gradient region reduces from the sliding body part toward the bond surface. A method for producing the siding material is also provided. The method includes preparing the substrate having a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface; melting the copper alloy; casting the molten copper alloy on the first surface of the substrate; and solidifying the copper alloy unidirectionally by cooling the substrate from the second surface by a coolant.

Abstract: The present invention provides a half thrust bearing in a semicircular ring shape for receiving an axial force of the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine, including thrust reliefs formed adjacent to both circumferential end portions of a slide surface which receives the axial force, so that a wall thickness of the half thrust bearing becomes thinner toward the circumferential end portions, wherein at least the thrust relief on a rear side in a rotational direction of the crankshaft has a thrust relief length which becomes larger toward an outer end portion from an inner end portion in a radial direction of the half thrust bearing. Abstract: A resin coating layer has a shape line that indicates the shape of a surface and is divided by virtual straight lines parallel to the X axis and setting an area of recessed sections that protrudes below the virtual straight lines and an area of protruding sections that protrudes above the virtual straight lines. The average area Sa for one recessed section is 4-120 μm2 and the number M of recessed sections between two points having a distance of 1 mm therebetween is 3-20.

Each half thrust bearing include thrust reliefs formed adjacent to both circumferential end portions of the sliding surface so that a wall thickness is thinner toward the circumferential end surface. A thrust relief length at an inner end portion of the thrust relief positioned on a rear side of one of the half thrust bearings in a rotational direction is larger than a thrust relief length at an inner end portion of the thrust relief positioned on a front side of the other of the half thrust bearing in the rotational direction.
