摘要: The turf gauge includes a housing, a probe assembly which is spring biased within the housing with a probe to penetrate into a green and a scale member to indicate the depth of penetration of the probe. A handle of the turf gauge acts to lock the scale member in place so that a reading can be obtained after withdrawal of the gauge from the green. The construction of the turf gauge permits ready replacement of spacer rings for changing the pre-stress of the spring on the probe assembly.

摘要: A system is provided for recording and/or reading information on the upper major surface of a flexible information storage disc. The system is comprised of a stationary surface or smoothing plane and a rotational drive member wherein the flexible disc is rotated over the stationary surface with the lower major surface of such disc facing the stationary surface. At least one opening is provided in the disc for receiving the rotational drive member and engaging therewith to provide the requisite rotation to the disc. The rotational drive member is essentially perpendicular to the stationary surface with the disc being free to move laterally along the drive member. Rotation of the disc causes the disc to rise above the surface, creating an air cushion between the flexible disc and surface. A recording and/or playback head is selectively passed over the upper major surface of the flexible disc for reading and/or writing information on the disc as it rotates.

摘要: Methods for multi-directional enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) are disclosed that involve removal of oil from a reservoir that has an injection well, a producing well, and a plurality of lenses that contain oil and that each span between the injection well and the producing well. One method, among others, involves recovering primary oil from a primary set of lenses via the producing well by alternating injection one or more times of water and an injection gas, or IG (e.g., carbon dioxide, ethane, natural gas, nitrogen, etc., or any combination thereof) into the injection well so that the water and IG enter the primary set in a first direction and move the primary oil in the first direction. The method further involves recovering secondary oil from a secondary set of lenses that is different than the primary set via the injection well by alternating injection one or more times of water and the IG into the producing well so that the water and carbon dioxide enter the secondary set in a second direction that is different than the first direction (e.g., opposite) and therefore move the secondary oil in the second direction.

摘要: A sample holder that enables mid-infrared spectroscopy of a test sample using mid-infrared light is disclosed. The sample holder includes an inlet port and a sample chamber that comprises a sample region and a capillary channel that fluidically couples the inlet port and the sample region. The capillary channel is characterized by a higher capillary force than the sample region. As a result, when the inlet port is put in contact with a liquid containing the test sample, the liquid is drawn into the sample region without the formation of bubbles that could obscure the optical analysis. In some embodiments, the inlet port is the free end of a draw tube having an outer diameter that is smaller than the minimum spacing between pain receptors at a draw site on a patient, which mitigates pain felt by the patient due to insertion of the draw tube at the draw site.

摘要: A method for operating a continuous flow steam generator with an evaporator heating surface is provided. A target value for a supply water mass flow is fed to a device for adjusting the supply water mass flow. In order to improve the quality of a predictive supply water or mass flow control and to maintain the enthalpy of the flow medium at the evaporator outlet particularly stable especially when load changes occur, a correction factor is taken into consideration during production of the target value for the supply water mass flow. The correction factor is a characteristic of the temporal derivative of enthalpy or the density of the flow medium at the input of one or more heating surfaces.

摘要: A method is provided for regulating a brief increase in power of a steam turbine that has an upstream fossil-fired once-through steam generator having a plurality of economizer, evaporator and superheater heating surfaces which form a flow path and through which a flow medium flows. The flow of the flow medium through the fossil-fired once-through steam generator is increased in order to achieve the brief increase in power of the steam turbine. The method involves using desired enthalpy value at the outlet of an evaporator heating surface as a control variable for determining a desired value for the flow of the flow medium through the fossil-fired once-through steam generator. The desired enthalpy value is reduced in order to achieve the brief increase in power of the steam turbine.
