Abstract: A device and method for absorbing electromagnetic waves can include a honeycomb sheet formed by a plurality of interconnected hexagon cells arranged in rows. The hexagon cells are made up of sidewalls, each sidewall formed by two surfaces that converge at a top of the sidewall and diverge from the top to a bottom of the sidewall such that a thickness of the sidewalls increases from top to bottom and an angle forms between the two surfaces at the top of the sidewall. In an example, the angle is about 8 degrees. The honeycomb sheet can be coated with a magnetic, composite coating to increase electromagnetic shielding. An example coating includes magnetic multi-granular nanoclusters (MGNC) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT). A base layer can be attached to the honeycomb sheet for mechanical stability and additional absorption. The device is suitable for radar absorbing materials (RAM) for aerospace and military applications.

Abstract: Three-dimensional printing on a membrane of a filtration device is described herein. Forming the filtration device involves receiving a membrane comprising a porous material, depositing an ink into pores of the porous material, causing the ink to solidify, and continuously building three-dimensional printed structures via micro-stereolithographic three-dimensional printing. Solidifying the ink causes the ink to bond with the membrane.

Abstract: Techniques for measuring vacuum pressure using a memristor element are described. A vacuum sensor can include a memristor element having a semiconductor substrate, a memristive material layer, and a conductive electrode. The off-state resistance of the memristor element can be sensitive to changes in ambient pressure at the element. The off-state resistance of the memristor element may also exhibit a well-defined increase at pressures below a threshold pressure. Measurement of the off-state resistance may be obtained with low power consumption and without changing the resistance or switching the state of the memristor element. The measurements may be used to both determine a leak rate of the ambient pressure within the volume of interest and determine if the sensor is exposed to vacuum pressure below the threshold pressure.

Abstract: A method of forming an ophthalmic contact lens using an additive manufacturing apparatus is presented herein. The method providing a first solution comprising HEMA, PEGDA, and a photoinitiator, forming a support structure on a planar print bed of the additive manufacturing apparatus by depositing a first plurality of layers of the first solution and curing the first plurality of layers, and forming an ophthalmic contact lens on the support structure by depositing a second plurality of layers of the first solution and curing the second plurality of layers. The second plurality of layers are arranged such that a disc of the ophthalmic contact lens is oriented generally perpendicular to the planar print bed of the additive manufacturing apparatus.

The method includes the steps of: (a) labelling elements of a dataset to be analysed according to a labelling scheme; (b) selecting one or more labelled elements of the dataset to be replaced with a distance preserving hash; and for each selected element: (c) partitioning a data plane including the selected element into a plurality of channels, each channel covering a different distance space of the data plane; (d) hashing, using a cryptographic hash, data associated with the channel of the data plane in which the selected element resides, to form the distance preserving hash; and (e) replacing the selected element with the distance preserving hash.
