    Abstract: A system employing resource element mapping for efficient use of the downlink control channel is provided for a wireless communication system. In one example, a method comprises: generating, by a base station device comprising a processor, resource element mapping signaling, wherein the resource element mapping signaling is performed per subgroup of physical resource blocks of a group of physical resource blocks; transmitting, by the base station device, a first resource element mapping pattern to a first subgroup of the group of physical resource blocks; and transmitting, by the base station device, a second resource element mapping pattern to a second subgroup of the group of physical resource blocks, wherein the first resource element mapping pattern is distinct from the second resource element mapping pattern.

    Abstract: An example method may include a processing system of a channel sounding receiver having a processor receiving from a base station, at a location, a channel sounding waveform via a plurality of carriers, sampling the channel sounding waveform via the plurality of carriers to generate a plurality of per-carrier time domain sample sets, and processing the plurality of per-carrier time domain sample sets via a plurality of discrete Fourier transform modules to provide a plurality of per-carrier frequency domain sample sets. The method may further include the processing system aligning the plurality of per-carrier frequency domain sample sets in gain and phase to provide a combined frequency domain sample set and measuring a channel property at the location based upon the combined frequency domain sample set.

    Abstract: A radio resource measurement (RRM) and timing configuration (TC) framework can facilitate efficient configuration of RRM measurements in wireless communications systems with variable carrier and transmission bandwidths. The RMTC can comprise a list of synchronization signal (SS) block measurement and timing configurations (SMTCs) and a list of channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) measurement and timing configurations (CMTCs). A framework is proposed to allow for efficient signaling of measurement configurations in cellular wireless communications systems with overlapping carriers of varying bandwidths comprising carriers without synchronization signals as well as bandwidth parts covering parts of the spectrum of a carrier.

    Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards operating a user equipment node as a scheduler user equipment (e.g., which can be a local manager of other nodes in a group). The scheduler user equipment receives a scheduling request for the scheduling of the resources for transmission of data by a transmitter user equipment, and based on the traffic type requested, schedules the transmitter user equipment and receiver user equipment(s) with scheduling data/allocated radio resources. The transmitter user equipment can directly transmit to the receiver user equipment(s) on the allocated radio resources, e.g., without further involvement of the scheduler user equipment/local manager. For cellular data, the scheduler user equipment can schedule the transmitter user equipment to transmit to the scheduler user equipment as a receiver node.

    Abstract: Techniques for mobile broadband and machine type communication network coexistence are provided. A method can include embedding, by a system comprising a processor, narrowband carriers, comprising a first narrowband carrier having a first bandwidth and a second narrowband carrier having the first bandwidth, into respective portions of an enhanced wireless broadband carrier, the enhanced wireless broadband carrier having a second bandwidth that is greater than the first bandwidth; transmitting, by the system to network equipment via the first narrowband carrier, a master information block comprising a first bandwidth field indicative of the first bandwidth and a second bandwidth field, distinct from the first bandwidth field, indicative of the second bandwidth; and scheduling, by the system, the network equipment on the second narrowband carrier in response to transmitting the master information block to the network equipment.
