Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to reporting channel state information (CSI) when synchronization state is altered. In some embodiments, a UE starts a timing alignment timer (TAT) in response to a time alignment command (TAC) from a cellular network for one or more serving cells. In some embodiments, the UE stores a configuration for a semi-persistent (SP) channel state information (CSI) report for the apparatus over a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). In some embodiments, the UE activates the SP-CSI report based on downlink control information (DCI) from the network. In some embodiments, the UE transmits one or more SP-CSI reports according to the configuration. In some embodiments, in response to expiration of the TAT, the UE deactivates all active stored configurations of SP-CSI reports that use the PUSCH and that correspond to the one or more serving cells. In some embodiments, this may avoid collisions with PUSCH transmissions from other UEs, e.g., when the UE returns to an in-sync state.

Abstract: A wireless user equipment (UE) may employ any of various mechanisms for reporting signal quality measurements to a wireless network. The UE may impose a time delay between measurement and reporting, based on a delay parameter K. The UE may average measurements obtained at different measurement instances. The UE may employ any of various schemes for prioritizing transmission of one type of report over another, when temporal collisions occur between different types of report. The UE may employ a differential report that includes a state for indicating that a beam is not workable. The UE may employ a beam index that includes a state for indicating an invalid beam. A base station may receive a signal quality report and determine workability of a beam, e.g., by triggering a report of channel state information.

Abstract: A transmitter (e.g. a packet data convergence protocol, PDCP, in the transmitter), which may be a base station for downlink communications or a user equipment device for uplink communications, may control timing of the delivery of duplicate (same) packets to multiple (e.g. two) wireless links (e.g. radio link control links) for transmission to a receiver, based at least on synchronization information received from the receiver. The duplicate packets may be transmitted over the multiple wireless links to the receiver, which may receive the duplicate packets over the multiple wireless links. The receiver may collect and/or generate synchronization information indicative of the timing or latency between the multiple wireless links, based at least on the respective receive timings of the duplicate packets over the multiple wireless links. The receiver may transmit a report containing the synchronization information to the transmitter periodically and/or in response to a trigger event.

System Information Request and Acquisition in a Connected Mode

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) in a connected mode with respect to a base station transmits a request for desired system information via dedicated uplink signaling, thus increasing the probability of successful reception of the request as compared to transmission over a contention based channel. (The request may identify one or more desired system information blocks, or, one or more desired block portions.) The base station may transmit the desired system information using dedicated downlink signaling, thereby avoiding collisions with unicast downlink transmissions to the UE. Alternatively, the base station may simply broadcast the desired system information. The base station may also transmit, via dedicated downlink signaling, an indication of whether the request is granted or not. The disclosed mechanisms may support modern services such as Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) and Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS).
