    Abstract: A rotating electrical machine includes a magnetic field-producing unit and an armature. A magnet unit is equipped with a plurality of magnets arranged adjacent each other in a circumferential direction. Each of the magnets is magnetically oriented to have an easy axis of magnetization which is aligned near a d-axis that is defined on a center of the magnetic pole to be more parallel to the d-axis than an easy axis of magnetization near a q-axis that is defined on a boundary between the magnetic poles. An armature winding includes conductive members which face the magnetic field-producing unit and are arranged at a given interval away from each other in the circumferential direction. Each of the magnets has an end surface which faces in the circumferential direction and is placed in direct contact with an end surface of a circumferentially adjacent one of the magnets.

    Abstract: In a rotating electrical machine, a field generator includes a magnet unit and a cylindrical magnet holder. The magnet unit includes circular-arc magnets arranged in the circumferential direction. Each magnet has an outer peripheral surface, and first and second end surfaces in the circumferential direction. Recesses are formed in the outer peripheral surface of the magnet unit. Each recess is configured to open toward a radially outside direction. Elastic members are respectively located in installation spaces. Each installation space is defined between a corresponding one recess and the inner peripheral surface of the magnet holder. Each elastic member is installed in a corresponding one installation space while being in compressed state therein to create elastic force. The elastic forces of the respective elastic members are configured to press the magnets radially inward.

    Abstract: A rotating electric machine includes a field system, which includes a magnet section, and an armature. The magnet section includes a plurality of magnets that are arranged at predetermined intervals and in alignment with each other in a circumferential direction. The magnets have easy axes of magnetization oriented such that at locations closer to a d-axis, the directions of the easy axes of magnetization are more parallel to the d-axis than at locations closer to a q-axis. In the magnets, magnet magnetic paths are formed along the easy axes of magnetization. The field system further includes a field-system core that is formed of a soft-magnetic material. The field-system core has protrusions protruding to the armature side. Each of the protrusions is located closer to the q-axis than to the d-axis in the circumferential direction. Circumferential end surfaces of the protrusions respectively abut circumferential end surfaces of the magnets.

    Abstract: In a rotary electric machine, magnets provided in a core generate circumferentially arranged magnetic poles. Each magnetic pole defines d- and q-axes. The d-axis represents a center of the corresponding magnetic pole. The rotary electric machine includes an armature including an armature winding. Each magnet includes a magnet body having opposing first and second flux effective surfaces. The first flux effective surface is a surface out of which magnetic flux flows. The second flux effective surface into which magnetic flux flows. The magnet body has a thickness defined as a minimum distance between the first and second flux effective surfaces. The magnet body has easy axes of magnetization. A length of a line along at least one of the easy axes of magnetization between the first and second flux effective surfaces is longer than the thickness of the magnet body.

    Abstract: A rotary electrical machine includes a switch for supplying power to a field winding and controller. A ratio of an on-time to one switching cycle of the switch is defined as a duty ratio, and a duty ratio which is larger than the duty ratio corresponding to the field current that gives the maximum reduction amount of the inductance of the field winding with respect to an increasing amount of the field current in a range that the current can take and has a value less than 100% is set as a predetermined value. The controller calculates the duty ratio wherein an upper limit of the ratio is the predetermined value and turns on/off the switch based on the calculated duty ratio. Also, a relay and abnormality detection part that detects abnormality in the switch. The relay is switched to off in response to the occurrence of abnormality being detected.

    Abstract: A rotary electrical machine includes a switch for supplying power to a field winding and a controller.
