摘要: Disclosed are amorphous polyesters that contain only renewable resources designed for emulsion aggregation toner fabrication. The amorphous polyesters may be obtained from the mixture of three different monomers: 1,4:3,6-dianhydro-D-sorbitol (isosorbide), nonanedioic acid (azelaic acid), and butanedioic acid (succinic acid). Different polymer properties may be achieved depending on the ratio of these three monomers. By altering the ratio, polymers of high to low acid value can be obtained, as well as different ranges of glass transition temperatures.

摘要: An emulsion aggregation polyester toner including a polyester resin having modified end groups, wherein the polyester resin includes at least one carboxylic end group. A process of making the toner by oxidation of a polyester resin including reacting the polyester with a hypohalite and a phase transfer catalyst results in a polyester resin endcapped with at least one acidic group. Stable xerographic charging in all ambient environments for all colors, and excellent resistivity and cohesion of the toner, may be achieved.

摘要: Toner particles and a dry-powder electrophoretic display employing such particles are disclosed herein. The toner particles adapted for a dry-powder electrophoretic display comprise emulsion/aggregation particles having a negative charge. At least a portion of the toner particles include a surface coating, comprising a methacrylate polymer, disposed on the surface of the toner particles to impart a positive charge to a set of toner particles. The emulsion/aggregation toner particles have a particle size generally less than about 10 micrometers that allows for improved image quality as compared to conventional toners utilized in dry-powder electrophoretic displays.
