    摘要: The present invention has an object to operate a reproduction apparatus (an apparatus from which video is inputted) using only a remote control of a video display apparatus. A video display apparatus which displays video includes: a first display unit which displays a menu screen of the video display apparatus; a switching unit which switches a current input to an input from an input source device from which video is inputted when the input source device is indicated in the menu screen displayed by the first display unit; and a second display unit which displays a menu screen of the input source device when the switching unit switches the current input.

When a user presses a button on a remote controller, the display receives a remote control code outputted from the remote controller, searches the connected-device table for a maker code and a device code that match the maker code and the device code included in the remote control code, controls a selector (105) so that a reception interface that is connected to an STB whose maker code and device code match those included in the remote control code is connected to a display section (102), thereby to display AV data transmitted from the STB on the display section (102).

Particularly, the apparatus comprises a timing component for generating and inserting additional timing information into the header at least first packet of each frame of the data stream for transmitting to a destination node.     摘要: The video signal input is converted to high-speed reproduction data by a high-speed reproduction data encoder 1. The video signal input is converted to high-speed reproduction data by a formatter 2, which formats the high-speed reproduction data so that the same data is recorded to n tracks. After the recorded data is input to an error correction encoder 3, it is decoded by a decoder 4 and recorded by a recording head 5 to the magnetic tape 6. During reproduction, the recorded data is reproduced by reproduction head 7 from the magnetic tape 6, and decoded by decoder 8. The decoded data is then error corrected by an error correction decoder 9, and then input to a deformatter 10. The deformatter 10 separates the normal reproduction data from the high-speed reproduction data, and separately outputs both data types. During normal reproduction, the normal reproduction data is output by a switch 13; the high-speed reproduction data is decoded to video data by a high-speed reproduction data decoder during high speed reproduction, and output.

    摘要: In a compressed signal recording and reproducing apparatus, a table-of-contents generator extracts user selected representative frames from among frames of an input compressed television signal that can be identified by specified additional information, and generates table-of-contents data representing contents of a specified number of the user selected representative frames. A recording signal processor arranges the input compressed television signal, table-of-contents data, and positional information relating to positions for recording the individual user selected representative frames data, respectively, at specified positions of the recording medium. The apparatus further includes a reproduction signal processor for outputting table-of-contents data recorded at a specified position in the recording medium for exhibiting contents of a plurality of user selected representative frames, from among the reproduction data.

Then, first, second, and third motion vectors relative to data of a block of the field to be encoded are calculated from data of an m-th preceding field (m: even), data of an n-th preceding field (n: odd), and data of an interpolated image produced from the n-th preceding field. First, second, and third prediction signals are produced from the first motion vector and the m-th preceding field data, the second motion vector and the n-th preceding field data, and the third motion vector and the interpolated image data, respectively. In succession, a first difference signal between the first prediction signal and the block data to be encoded, a second difference signal between the second prediction signal and the block data to be encoded, and a third difference signal between the third prediction signal and the block data to be encoded are calculated and compared each other. As a result of comparison, one of the first, second, and third difference signals is selected and encoded.
