Signals received from a base station are translated by a first of the pair of partner relays to a different transmission resource for communication between the pair of partner relays, and then upon reception by a second of the pair of partner relays, the signal is translated back to the original transmission resource and re-transmitted towards the receiver.

    摘要: A system for exchanging energy wirelessly comprises an array of at least three objects having a resonant frequency, each object is electromagnetic (EM) and non-radiative, and generates an EM near-field in response to receiving the energy, wherein each object in the array is arranged at a distance from all other objects in the array, such that upon receiving the energy the object is strongly coupled to at least one other object in the array via a resonant coupling of evanescent waves; and an energy driver for providing the energy at the resonant frequency to at least one object in the array, such that, during an operation of the system, the energy is distributed from the object to all other objects in the array.

    摘要: A method and system reduces a peak to average power ratio of a transmitted OFDM signal. An input signal is encoded using a forward error correcting code to produce a codeword corresponding to the input signal. A peak power corresponding to the codeword is measured. The peak power is compared with a predetermined threshold, and a set of selected bits in the codeword are manipulated if the peak power is greater than the predetermined threshold to deliberately produce an erroneous codeword in which the peak power is less than the predetermined threshold, which is transmitted.

    摘要: A method performs a hybrid automatic repeat-request (HARQ) operation in a wireless orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) network. A quality of a channel between a transmitter and a receiver is estimated as an error metric. A packet for the HARQ operation is fragmented adaptively at the transmitter according to the estimated error metric. The fragmentation is performed at the HARQ layer when the error metric is less than a predetermined threshold, otherwise the fragmentation is performed at the MAC layer.

Transit links between a network node and respective neighbouring network nodes are monitored for communications control signals from any of the neighbouring network nodes, and a particular transit link is selected for data exchange upon receipt of a communications control signal. Each transit radio link antenna beam at a network node is thereby aligned with a respective neighbouring network node when the neighbouring node sends a communications control signal.

    摘要: A method detects unused frequency bands in a cognitive radio network. Multiple frequency bands for RF signals are sensed using an antenna array including a plurality of elements coupled to a receive RF chain, in which the plurality of elements are individually controllable. For each frequency band, multiple spatial directions are sensed for the RF signals using the antenna array. A particular frequency band and a particular direction and a particular time slot are assigned as an available frequency band, an available direction and a particular time slot for transmitting RF signals in a cognitive radio if the RF signals are not sensed in the particular spatial direction for the particular frequency band, and in which the RF signals are transmitted by a transmit chain connected to the antenna array.
