Abstract: The present invention provides, in one aspect, a rotating power tool including a housing, a drive unit within the housing having an electric motor defining a rotational axis, and a drive shaft coupled to the electric motor to receive torque therefrom configured to rotate about the rotational axis, the drive shaft having an eccentric portion. The drive unit further includes an accessory tool configured to orbit about the rotational axis in response to rotation of the eccentric portion of the drive shaft, the accessory tool defining a rotational imbalance. The rotating power tool further includes a dynamic mass balancing system including an actively adjustable counterbalance mass to attenuate vibration caused by the rotational imbalance.

Abstract: A gas spring-powered fastener driver includes a cylinder, a storage chamber cylinder having pressurized air in communication with the cylinder, a moveable piston positioned within the cylinder, a driver blade attached to the piston and movable therewith between a top-dead-center position and a bottom-dead-center position, the driver blade defining a driving axis, a lifter operable to move the driver blade from the bottom-dead-center position toward the top-dead-center position, the lifter is configured to engage the driver blade when moving the driver blade from the bottom-dead-center position toward the top-dead-center position, a bumper positioned beneath the piston in a vertical direction to absorb impact energy from the piston, and a valve positioned in the storage chamber cylinder. In response to the piston compressing the bumper while absorbing impact energy from the piston, the valve adds pressurized air from the cylinder to the storage chamber cylinder.

Abstract: A gas spring-powered fastener driver includes a cylinder, a moveable piston positioned within the cylinder, a driver blade attached to the piston and movable therewith between a ready position and a driven position, a lifter to move the driver blade from the driven position to the ready position, and a transmission including an output shaft operatively coupled to the lifter to provide torque to the lifter. The fastener driver also includes an input to provide torque to the transmission and a clutch positioned downstream of the input and operably coupled to the output shaft to limit an amount of torque transferred to the output shaft and the lifter. In response to an application of a reaction torque to the output shaft above a predetermined threshold, torque from the input is diverted from the output shaft via the clutch.

The fastener driver further includes a drive train converting torque from the motor to a linear force applied to the compressor piston, causing the compressor piston to move in the reciprocating manner. At least a portion of the drive train extends through the handle portion of the housing.

Abstract: A blade clamp, for use with a power tool having a reciprocating spindle, includes a cover rotatably coupled to the spindle and a detent received within a bore of the spindle. The detent is movable in a radial direction relative to a longitudinal axis of the spindle to adjust the blade clamp between a locked configuration and an unlocked configuration. The cover is rotatable between a first rotational position relative to the spindle coinciding with the locked configuration, and a second rotational position relative to the spindle coinciding with the unlocked configuration. The blade clamp further includes a sleeve in which the detent is slidably received. The sleeve includes a non-corrosive material for inhibiting corrosion of the detent.

Abstract: A powered fastener driver includes a driver blade movable from a top-dead-center (TDC) position to a driven or bottom-dead-center (BDC) position for driving a fastener into a workpiece and a drive unit for providing torque to move the driver blade from the BDC position toward the TDC position. The drive unit includes an output shaft. The powered fastener driver also includes a rotary lifter engageable with the driver blade. The lifter is configured to receive torque from the drive unit in a first rotational direction for returning the driver blade from the BDC position toward the TDC position. The powered fastener driver further includes a kickout arrangement located between the lifter and the output shaft. The kickout arrangement is configured to permit limited rotation of the lifter relative to the output shaft between a first position and a second position.
