Abstract:
A system in accordance with the invention comprises a first clock input for carrying a clock input signal having first clock cycles, a clock output for carrying an output clock signal having cycles which are synchronous with the first clock cycles, and programmable delay means. Programmable delay means receives the clock input signal, and generates the output clock signal which is delayed from the input by at least a programmable delay and where the programmable delay causes the output clock signal to be synchronous with the input clock signal.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to a method to maintain male sterility in corn by the genetic linkage via genetic engineering of a homozygous male-fertility gene with a color linked restorer and plant comprising said genes. Color genes disclosed as useful in this invention include those involved in anthocyanin biosynthesis, which in corn are under the control of as many as 20 or more genes. In particular, the use of the anthocyanin color genes R, B and C1, and specific regulatory elements sequences are taught.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for arbitrating for a shared resource among two or more devices, wherein one device can arbitrate at two or more different levels of priority at different times. Only two conductors are used to communicate between the device and the arbiter: one request signal line and one grant signal line. In order to assert a request for control of memory, the device brings the request signal line to a predefined logic level. The arbiter considers this a low priority request for control of the shared resource, and the arbitration proceeds accordingly. Then, if the device's request is a high priority request, or if it was originally a low priority request and has now become a high priority request, the device brings the request signal to the opposite logic level to thereby increase the priority level of its request. In either case, the arbiter grants control of the shared resource by asserting the device grant signal to the device. Only two wires are required for the dual priority device to participate in the arbitration.
Abstract:
The sound field in a stereo reproduction system is enhanced by a preprocessor that removes a portion of the audio information that is common or substantially common to both the left and right stereo input signals before processing the signals in left and right sound placement filters. The left and right placement filter output signals, from which a portion of the common audio information was previously removed before processing, are added to the right and left stereo input signals, respectively, to produce enhanced sound field stereo output signals. The input signals that do not undergo placement processing are delayed in delay filters so that coherency is maintained when the signals are added and both the placement filters and the delay filters can be implemented by a series of cascaded bi-quadratic filters.
Abstract:
A cardiovascular exercise device is provided. The cardiovascular exercise device is for use to administer an exercise program including shuttle runs. The cardiovascular exercise device includes: a tower placeable at a first location; a user input associated with the tower; a pacing bar arranged to display a target pace of a user for a shuttle run of a track distance from the first location; and a processor configured to operate an exercise program. The administration of the exercise program includes the steps of: receiving a signal from the user input; defining a repetition as the time between subsequent signals from the user input; and indicating pacing information to the user based upon this signal.
Abstract:
A computerized system and method for leasing products includes defining a lease of an item, for example, an electronics product. The system includes a computer database that tracks product and service items, the cost for leasing of the items, and the cost to provide updates for product items. The bundled products and services are leased at a predetermined rate calculated using the database of the computerized system. At the option of the lessee, each product may be upgraded to a newer version of the original product in the same product class. The rate does not change over the course of the lease term. In the disclosed embodiment, the upgrade product is not identified in the lease because it is not available for sale or lease at the start of the lease term.
Abstract:
A virtual queuing system and method provides for dynamic control of queue data in accordance with queue control instructions provided by a separate queue control source. The virtual queuing system comprises an interface to a queuing system and an interface to the separate queue control source. The interface to the queuing system provides for obtaining queue data and controlling the queue data in accordance with the queue control instructions provided by a separate queue control source. The interface to the separate queue control source for: i) providing the queue data to the separate queue control source; and ii) obtaining the queue control instructions there from.
Abstract:
This invention relates to methods of treating Alzheimer's disease or symptoms thereof, and amnesic mild cognitive impairment or symptoms thereof. Methods of the invention include administering a therapeutically effective amount of tissue kallikrein, variants or active fragments thereof. The invention further relates to uses of tissue kallikrein or a variant or active fragment thereof for the digesting or cleaving amyloid and the treatment of conditions benefiting from the digestion or cleavage of amyloid. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising a therapeutically effective amount of tissue kallikrein, variants or active fragments thereof formulated for oral or intranasal administration.
