摘要: Computer systems having a plurality of storage systems could not detect addition of storage systems or configuration changes thereof and automatically redistribute existing volumes based on “hints” provided when the volumes were created. A management computer, which is connected via a network to storage systems having volumes connected via a network to a host computer and which stores data used by the host computer, keeps correspondences between levels indicating specific performances of volumes and storage system characteristics indicating performances of the storage systems. From a first storage system, a level is obtained indicating a performance of a volume of the first storage system allocated to the host computer. The storage system characteristics of the first storage system corresponding to the obtained level indicating the performance of the volume, and storage system characteristics of another storage system are referenced, and the performances of the volumes of the storage systems are compared.

摘要: A management apparatus, a management method, and a storage management system that more specifically manage power consumption, making it easy to analyze problems relating to power consumption or properly relocate data are provided. A power consumption for each of a plurality of memory apparatus groups each consisting of a plurality of memory apparatuses in a storage system is computed based on a performance for each of a plurality of logical storage extents defined in a plurality of storage extents provided by each of the memory apparatus groups, and a value of the power consumption for each of one or more of the memory apparatus groups obtained by the computation is output together with information on an access status of each of the corresponding logical storage extents.

摘要: A disk array includes a drive management unit, which is a program for identifying kinds of disk devices and managing different disk devices separately, and a drive management table for storing information to be utilized by the drive management unit. The disk array further includes a program for managing ac-cumulated time of disk devices. The program includes a drive lifetime setting portion for setting lifetimes of drives, a drive start/stop portion for intentionally starting/stopping ATA disk devices, and an operation time measurement portion for measuring accumulated operation time. Since it is necessary to be conscious of difference in reliability and performance among disk devices when forming a RAID, a drive kind notification unit, which is a program for notifying of the kind of a disk device when forming the RAID, is provided.

摘要: To migrate a configuration that an old storage device has to a new storage device.A new storage device 4000 obtains a configuration of an old storage device 5000, by using a migration manager PG 4345, and prepares a logical volume definition of the new storage device 4000 on the basis of a logical volume definition which is included in the configuration. Also, on the basis of a cache allocation definition included in the configuration of the old storage device 5000 and cache capacity of the new storage device 4000, a cache allocation definition of the new storage device 4000 is prepared. Also, on the basis of a port bandwidth allocation definition included in the configuration of the old storage device 5000 and bandwidth capacity of a port of the new storage device 4000, a port bandwidth allocation definition of the new storage device 4000 is prepared. And, the logical volume definition, the cache allocation definition and the port bandwidth allocation definition which were prepared as above are set up in a configuration of the new storage device 4000.

摘要: Failure investigation in a SAN providing virtual volumes requires a high degree of knowledge from the SAN administrator, who also evaluates the relative severities of failure events from different devices. The SAN manager obtains information from management agents in the devices. Using this information, the SAN manager manages the association between the server and the virtual volumes and the real volumes. The SAN manager receives failure messages from multiple devices and uses the association and a failure analysis dictionary table to determine the contents of the failure messages and associations between failure messages. Failures that are causal failure are displayed. The SAN manager is equipped with a conversion table for converting failure messages issued from different storage devices to a common severity. When a failure message is received, a notification is sent to a high-level program and to an administrator based on the common severity defined in the conversion table.

摘要: For detection of an adhesive film adhesively provided on a base tape of a film supply tape, a front end of the adhesive film is detected based on the detection of a predetermined displacement amount of a roller contactor of a detection sensor, the roller contactor being displaceable in a direction of thickness of the adhesive film. Based on a detection signal from the detection sensor, feeding rollers and others are controlled to feed the film supply tape by a predetermined feeding amount until the front end of the adhesive film comes to near a fold-back point of the base tape by a guide member.
