摘要: A display device capable of applying reverse driving voltage for a light emitting element to a light emitting element every certain period for prolonging light emitting element's life and burning out a shorted portion. Besides a path for supplying forward current to the light emitting element, a path for supplying reverse current is provided. A driving transistor is provided in the former path while a transistor (AC transistor) is provided in the latter path, thereby a switching between the two paths is controlled. The AC transistor has a rate L/W of a channel length L to a channel width W smaller than that of the driving transistor. Accordingly, current flowing into the light emitting element can be flowed into the AC transistor in the case of reverse driving voltage being applied to the light emitting element.

摘要: A light emitting device which is able to suppress power consumption while a balance of white light is maintained is provided. According to the present invention, either the potential level of the Hi video signal or Lo video signal which is given to a gate electrode of a transistor, and the potential level of the power source lines are changed by the respective corresponding colors. Concretely, the potential level at the side of Lo and the potential level of the power source line are made to be changed by the respective corresponding colors when a transistor which controls current supplied to a light emitting element is a p-channel type. Conversely, the potential level at the side so of the Hi and potential level of the power source line are made to be changed by the respective corresponding colors when a transistor which controls current supplied to a light emitting element is an n-channel type.

Further, by correcting a video signal inputted to the light emitting device in conformity with a characteristic of the driving TFT of each pixel and a degree of a deterioration of the light emitting element based on the over-described two data, nonuniformity of luminance caused by a deterioration of an electroluminescent layer and nonuniformity of luminance caused by dispersion of a characteristic of the driving TFT are restrained.

摘要: The invention provides a light emitting device which is capable of displaying on both sides, has a small volume, and is capable of being used as a module. A light emitting element represented by an EL element and the like is used in a pixel portion, and two pixel portions are provided in one light emitting device. A first pixel portion has a structure to emit light only from a counter electrode side of the light emitting element. A second pixel portion has a structure to emit light only from a pixel electrode side of the light emitting element. That is, in the first pixel portion and the second pixel portion, directions of light emission are reverse in front and back.
