    摘要: A recording/reproducing device includes a laser and a laser drive carried by a pickup having a drive for movement and an input for recording information. A control controls the drives to retrieve recording parameters from a predetermined portion of the recording medium, creates pulse sequences using the input recording information and retrieved recording parameters and forms recording marks having recording mark lengths between a predetermined and maximum lengths, a top section, a last section including a cooling period, and an intermediate period. Heat of mark front edges is controlled by recording parameters for top sections that are classified according to recording mark lengths and recording parameters of the first through the maximum recording mark lengths are classified into a same group. Heat of mark rear edges is controlled by cooling start positions for cooling periods classified according to recording mark lengths.

With the arrangement, it is possible to prevent that the information recording layer closest to the reproduction-laser-incident surface is irradiated wrongly with reproduction laser having high reproduction laser power, thereby making it possible to obtain successful reproduction quality. That is, it is possible to realize the optical information storage medium reproduction apparatus (10) that can set optimum reproduction laser power and perform stable super resolution reproduction.

The trial recording parameter setting section (23) inquires, in accordance with the recording information, a storage section (3) containing recording parameters used for controlling heat of recording marks, and sets a trial recording parameter, wherein (a) the recording parameters are used for controlling heat of at least rear edges, (b) the recording parameters are classified in accordance with recording mark lengths, and (c) recording parameters of a predetermined recording mark length or longer are classified into a same group. The reproduced signal quality judging section (26) judges whether or not a reproduced signal obtained by reproduction of the trial recording carried out in accordance with the trial recording parameter satisfies a predetermined reproduced signal quality. If no, the recording parameters of the predetermined recording mark length or longer are further classified into detailed groups and trial recording is carried out again. If the reproduced signal satisfies the predetermined reproduced signal quality, the reproduced signal quality judging section (26) sets the trial recording parameters as a recording parameter. This makes it possible to form a recording mark capable of surely providing a good reproduced signal quality while the number of recording parameters to be used is reduced.

    摘要: An optical reproduction apparatus in accordance with the present invention has a gain control circuit for controlling a gain of an amplifier circuit which amplifies a reproduction signal in accordance with amplitudes of the reproduction signal from an optical recording medium. The amplitude is sent to a power control calculation circuit which controls the reproduction power of a light beam in accordance with the amplitude. The gain control circuit has a slower response speed than that of the power control circuit at least during a period when the power control circuit controls the reproduction power. This allows to provide an optical reproduction apparatus that can realize the stable reproduction power and automatic gain control even to the unevenness of the amplitudes of the reproduction signal.

    摘要: A magneto-optical disk reproducing device includes a clock producing circuit, which, on the basis of a reproducing signal from recorded marks recorded in a magneto-optical disk, produces a timing offset from peak positions of the reproducing signal; an A/D converter, which samples the reproducing signal in accordance with the timing, and outputs a reproducing signal quantity; and a short mark signal quantity averaging circuit and a long mark signal quantity averaging circuit, each of which averages a plurality of reproducing signal quantities. When projecting a light beam onto a magneto-optical disk, the magneto-optical disk reproducing device controls light quantity of the light beam on the basis of a ratio between the respective values outputted by the foregoing averaging circuits. By this means, the A/D converter is able to sample the reproducing signal at more timings than when a reproducing signal is detected at peak positions thereof, and the magneto-optical disk reproducing device can detect the foregoing ratio more precisely. Consequently, the magneto-optical disk can control the light quantity of the light beam more accurately.
