    Abstract: The glass panel unit includes a first glass panel, a second glass panel, a seal, an evacuated space, and a spacer. The second glass panel is placed opposite the first glass panel. The seal with a frame shape hermetically bonds the first glass panel and the second glass panel to each other. The evacuated space is enclosed by the first glass panel, the second glass panel, and the seal. The spacer is placed between the first glass panel and the second glass panel. The spacer is a stack of two or more films. At least one film of the two or more films contains a polymer having a viscoelastic coefficient at 400° C. larger than 500 MPa.

    Abstract: A thermal conductivity changing unit includes: at least one thermal conductivity changing device; and a gas barrier film having an accommodation space which accommodates the at least one thermal conductivity changing device. Each of the at least one thermal conductivity changing device includes a pair of panels, a spacer, and a switching mechanism. The spacer forms a space between the pair of panels. The switching mechanism is disposed in the space to switch heat transferability between the pair of panels. The gas barrier film is configured to hermetically close an entirety of the accommodation space including the space in a depressurized state.

    Abstract: A glass panel unit includes a first pane of glass, and a second pane of glass facing the first pane of glass with the panes of glass spaced a predetermined interval apart. The glass panel includes a seal disposed between the panes of glass and joined to them in an airtight manner, and an interior space encompassed with the panes of glass and the seal. The glass panel unit includes: a partition wall disposed in the interior space and divides the interior space into a first space as a vacuum space and a second space; an air release vent formed in a first or second pane of glass and communicates with the second space; and a blocking member provided in the air release vent.

    Abstract: The panel unit includes a first panel, a second panel facing the first panel with a space provided therebetween the first panel and the second panel, a partition separating the space from a surrounding space, and a switching mechanism. The switching mechanism is located in the space for allowing a change in thermal conductivity between the first panel and the second panel. The switching mechanism includes at least one connector which is thermally conductive, and is switchable between a first state in which the at least one connector is out of contact with the first panel or the second panel and a second state in which the at least one connector is in contact with both the first panel and the second panel.
