摘要: Provided is a glass panel unit that reduces the chances of an electric wire extended being disconnected. A glass panel unit includes a first panel, a second panel, a seal, a connecting void, and an electric wire. The first panel includes a first glass pane. The second panel includes a second glass pane and is arranged to face the second glass pane. The seal has a frame shape and hermetically bonds respective peripheral edge portions of the first panel and the second panel to create an internal space between the first panel and the second panel. The connecting void is provided for a portion, other than a portion facing the internal space, of at least one of the first panel or the second panel. The electric wire is extended from the internal space to the connecting void by passing through the seal.

摘要: A glass panel unit manufacturing method includes a bonding step, an insertion step, an evacuation step, and a sealing step. The bonding step includes bonding a first substrate having an evacuation port and a second substrate with a bonding material having a frame shape to form an internal space. The insertion step includes inserting a sealing material into the evacuation port. The evacuation step includes evacuating the internal space by connecting an exhaust device to the evacuation port and driving the exhaust device. The sealing step includes sealing the evacuation port with the sealing material while an evacuated state in the internal space is maintained. In the sealing step, a measured value by a pressure gauge is monitored while the sealing material is heated, softening of the sealing material is detected based on the transition of the measured value, and heating of the sealing material is stopped.

The orthogonal direction is a direction orthogonal to the counter direction, which is a direction in which the first and second glass panels face each other.

A method for manufacturing a glass panel unit includes: disposing a glass adhesive to have one part as a low step part thinner than the other part of the glass adhesive; disposing a first substrate including at least a first glass substrate and a second substrate including at least a second glass substrate to face each other; and heating glass composite to form an inner space; reducing the pressure of the inner space; and forming a vacuum space from the inner space. The glass adhesive includes glass powder and a binder.
