A mobile communication system using an enhanced uplink dedicated transport channel transmits data at a relatively low effective data rate through autonomous transmission. Data transmission time points for user equipments (UEs) have different values in the autonomous transmission and therefore uplink interference is reduced. An autonomous transmission period N and the number of autonomous transmissions k are determined such that each UE performs the autonomous transmission. A Node B and each UE are notified of possible autonomous transmission time points based on the determined autonomous transmission period N and the determined number of autonomous transmissions k through signaling. The UE transmits the uplink data without the Node B's scheduling at the possible autonomous transmission time points.

To achieve an acknowledgement for data transmission from a UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network), a UE selects one of a plurality of sync codes by which the UTRAN identifies UEs that request data transmission and transmits the selected sync code in a time slot of a sub-frame to the UTRAN. Then, the UE receives the sync code information, information about the arrival time of the sync code, time update information indicating a variation in the transmission time of data, and power information indicating an adjustment to a power gain in the UE from the UTRAN on an FPACH (Fast Physical Access Channel). The UE transmits the data on a P-RACH (Physical Random Access Channel) mapped from the FPACH according to the time update information and the power information.

If the paging signal associated with the broadcast service is detected, the paging system recognizes the channel information indicative of the paging fact, checks paging information included in an ID for differentiating between the broadcast service and other broadcast services and a paging response indicator adapted to determine a transmission channel scheme of the broadcast service, establishes a radio link, and receives control information using the radio link. The base station controller adapted to manage a cell including the UE transmits MBMS transmission scheme information to the UE in advance using the paging information, resulting in maximum use efficiency of RRC (Radio Resource Controller) resources.

The first Node B determines a transmission power level of the second TFCI bit to be higher than a ratio of transmission power of the dedicated channel data from a Node B transmitting only the dedicated channel data to transmission power of the first TFCI bit.

A method and apparatus are provided for scheduling uplink data transmission in a mobile communication system. The method and apparatus include a base station scheduler for efficiently allocating radio communication resources in a mobile communication system using an E-DCH or DCH. The method and apparatus further include a User Equipment (UE) for using both an E-DCH and a conventional DCH to efficiently select the data rate of the E-DCH and the data rate of the conventional DCH. The method and apparatus can maintain the total transmit power of the UE at the time of retransmission the same as the total transmit power of the UE at the time of initial transmission regardless of the existence or absence of the DCH, thereby minimizing the change in the quantity of interference generated in the uplink by the UE.
