A method of for performing an initial access in a base station which supports the multi-band of a terminal according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: searching one or more downlink component carriers of the base station; receiving system information including a broadcast channel of a first downlink component carrier from among the searched one or more downlink component carriers and information for indicating one or more uplink component carriers connected to the first downlink component carrier; transmitting a first message to the base station through a first uplink component carrier from among one or more uplink component carriers indicated by the received system information; and receiving a second message including uplink authorization information from the base station through the first downlink component carrier.

A method of performing hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) by a source station in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes: transmitting data to a destination station at a transmission start time; receiving an acknowledgment (ACK) or negative-acknowledgement (NACK) signal for the data from the destination station after a first transmission time interval elapses from the transmission start time; and upon receiving the NACK signal, retransmitting the data after a second transmission time interval elapses from the transmission start time, wherein the second transmission time interval is one transmission time interval selected from a plurality of predetermined transmission time intervals. Accordingly, the wireless communication system can perform a heterogeneous HARQ process in which an HARQ period, an ACK/NACK transmission start time, and the like are different.

Disclosed is a communication method in a multi-carrier system, including: allocating radio resources for transmitting signals to a middle guard band; and transmitting the signals through the radio resources; wherein the middle guard band is a frequency band positioned between used bands of a plurality of carriers, respectively, within an aggregated carrier formed by aggregating the plurality of carriers and a unit allocating the radio resources of the middle guard band is different from a unit allocating the radio resources of the used bands. A multi-carrier system uses the guard bands between the carriers to improve channel estimation performance or increase efficiency of radio resources.

The method comprises receiving a plurality of data blocks from a base station; generating ACK/NACK signals corresponding to the plurality of data blocks; allocating resources for transmitting ACK/NACK signals, wherein the resources are allocated independently per slot; and transmitting the ACK/NACK signals through one uplink component carrier by using the allocated resources. Preferably, the step of allocating resources includes allocating the resources to minimize the difference in the number of the ACK/NACK signals transmitted per slot.

This invention provides a sub-frame structure which is compatible with existing wireless communication systems. This method allows the continued use of existing control channel systems or base signal structures. The method is also capable of supporting advanced features.

The present invention relates to a wireless communication system which supports carrier aggregation. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for enabling a user equipment to perform a handover in a wireless communication system which supports carrier aggregation. The method for performing a handover comprises the steps of: transmitting a measurement report on a target cell to a serving cell; receiving, from the serving cell, a message containing a signature route sequence index, cyclic shift parameters, and information related to the component carrier of the target cell; confirming contention-based signatures generated on the basis of the signature route sequence index and cyclic shift parameters; and transmitting one of said contention-based signatures to the target cell for random access, via one or more component carriers, on the basis of said information related to the component carrier. The present invention also relates to an apparatus for the method.
