Abstract:
A system and related method of applying forage treatment material to harvested forage is provided. The method can include harvesting forage, rotating an auger in a bin to convey a granular treatment material toward a tube, moving the material through the tube with a vacuum toward harvested forage moving in a chute to mix the material with the harvested forage, sensing rotation of the auger; displaying an RPM associated with the sensed auger rotation; displaying a measured harvested forage rate; adjusting the actuator to change the RPM to match the applied material amount to the harvested forage based on the measured harvested forage rate. The system can include a bin having an auger, a sensor that measures auger RPM, a tube, a display that displays the RPM in the cab, and an actuator to adjust applied material by changing the RPM based on a measured harvested forage rate.
Abstract:
A conveying device of an agricultural processing machine conveys loose material along a window which is inserted into a wall. A sensor measures in a contactless manner a characteristic of the conveyed loose material. A fluid ejector ejects a fluid jet onto a surface formed in the interior of the processing machine. The fluid is thereby provided in a space between the window and the conveyed loose material.
Abstract:
A system and method for measuring the moisture of a harvested crop, such as hay, in the pre-compression chamber of a harvesting apparatus, such as a large square hay baler. Measurement at this time provides a highly accurate and reliable moisture reading. The apparatus disclosed includes two or more sensors disposed at separate positions in the pre-compression chamber. The sensors sense electrical conductivity or RF wave transmission through the hay in the pre-compression chamber.
Abstract:
A system for determining an amount of and applying a preservative to an individual charge of crop material, wherein the charge is combined with other charges to form a bale. Loose crop material is collected and packed into a feeder chute in such a manner as to pre-compress the material to form the charge. A moisture content of the charge is measured by a sensor while the charge is still in the feeder chute. The charge is moved into a forming chamber, and a control unit determines a correct amount of a preservative to apply to the charge based on the moisture content. The correct amount of the preservative is applied to the charge either before or after the charge is incorporated into the bale. Thus, the system measures the moisture content of each charge, and measures the moisture content of the same charge to which the preservative is applied.
Abstract:
A harvesting machine for picking up crop includes a container with a closable filler neck used to accommodate a fluid that is fed by at least one supply system to crop picked up by the harvesting machine. The container has at least one further, closable opening, through which at least one additional container is inserted into the container. The additional container is fillable with a fluid and has contents that can be mixed with the fluid present in the container.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for determining the fraction of hay at various moisture levels during an agricultural baling process. A moisture sensor array is provided on an agricultural baler to sense the moisture content of incoming crop material as the baling process progresses. The moisture sensor array is connected to an ECU that is programmed to determine the ratios of incoming crop material that are at or above particular moisture content levels. An indication is given to the operator by way of an operator output device regarding the moisture content ratio.
