    摘要: An optical sensor includes a light source, a sensing unit, a first optical fiber transmitting light from the light source to the sensing unit, second and third optical fibers transmitting the light from a reflecting surface of the sensing unit to light-receiving portions, and a calculation unit calculating physical quantities from electrical signals from the light-receiving portions. End surfaces of these fibers opposed to the reflecting surface are fixed so that the longitudinal direction thereof and the normal line of the reflecting surface form an angle θ, the second and third optical fibers are parallel to each other, and the fixing angles of the first optical fiber and the second and third optical fibers are symmetric about the normal line. These optical fibers have a single mode in the wavelength of which the optical fibers are used. A depolarizer is interposed between the light source and the first optical fiber.

One such sensor may include: a reflector positioned a distance from a reflective diffraction grating and a light source for providing light. The sensor may further include a detector for sensing an intensity of light in an interference pattern formed by the first portion of the light reflected from the diffraction grating and the second portion of the light reflected from the reflector. The sensor includes a controller configured to modulate an emission of the light.

The reflective regions include a three-dimensional element for directing light from the light source onto the first detector. The element has a surface that is inclined at an oblique angle with respect to the planar surface. The code pattern moves with respect to the emitter-detector module. The three-dimensional element can include a reflective imaging element that images the light source onto a surface of the first detector.

    摘要: An apparatus for use in rotational measurement. A rotational assembly is provided that is rotationally movable about a rotational axis. At least two interferometers are provided that are each able to receive a respective light beam, separate it into both reference and measuring beams and direct their respective measuring beam to and receive it back from the rotational assembly.     摘要: A water meter has a meter register having an encoder having electromagnetic wave emitters, e.g., infrared emitters to measure water flow and direction of water flow through the meter. The encoder has two of three spaced emitters directing infrared rays at predetermined time intervals toward a rotating detector wheel having a reflective surface portion and a non-reflective surface portion facing the emitters and an infrared sensor. The reflective surface portion of the detecting wheel reflects the infrared rays incident thereon toward the sensor. A microprocessor connected to the sensor acts on signals from the sensor to determine material flow. The meter register transmits the signal to a distant receiver. The microprocessor of a meter register has an algorithm to prevent the meter register from sending signals until after the meter register or a water meter having a meter register is installed and water moved through the meter.
