    摘要: In some examples, an optical encoder may consist of a light source that shines light onto a wheel which then reflects the light onto a sensor. Using information encoded in the reflected light, the rotation of the wheel may be determined. In some examples, rotation of the wheel may be determined by detecting an encoding pattern in light reflected from an exterior surface of the wheel. In some examples, the encoding pattern can be a pattern of light and dark stripes. In some examples, a pattern of light stripes can be generated from light reflecting off of reflective portions of the wheel. Some examples of the disclosure relate to using a surface topology for a wheel that can be used to generate an encoding pattern of light and dark stripes in light reflected from the surface of the wheel, even when the surface of the wheel is uniformly reflective.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for controlling exposure of a surface of a substrate in a process of structuring the substrate with light of a predetermined intensity are described, wherein the light is directed to the surface by means of a deflectable mirror. The intensity has a first maximum at a first deflection of the deflectable mirror, a first minimum at a second deflection of the deflectable mirror, a second maximum at a third deflection of the deflectable mirror, and a second minimum at a fourth deflection of the deflectable mirror. A signal representing the predetermined intensity, and a signal representing a threshold intensity are received, the threshold intensity being equal to or less than the intensity of the second maximum. It is determined whether the predetermined intensity is greater than the threshold intensity. The deflection of the deflectable mirror is controlled to be between the first deflection and the second deflection when the predetermined intensity is greater than the threshold intensity, and to be equal to or greater than the third deflection when the predetermined intensity is equal to or less than the threshold intensity.

    摘要: A water meter has a meter register having an encoder having electromagnetic wave emitters, e.g., infrared emitters to measure water flow and direction of water flow through the meter. The encoder has two of three spaced emitters directing infrared rays at predetermined time intervals toward a rotating detector wheel having a reflective surface portion and a non-reflective surface portion facing the emitters and an infrared sensor. The reflective surface portion of the detecting wheel reflects the infrared rays incident thereon toward the sensor. A microprocessor connected to the sensor acts on signals from the sensor to determine material flow. The meter register transmits the signal to a distant receiver. The microprocessor of a meter register has an algorithm to prevent the meter register from sending signals until after the meter register or a water meter having a meter register is installed and water moved through the meter.

The invention enables the position of mirrors, especially rotating mirrors, to be quickly measured optically using a simple optical construction. The measuring beam (6) is focussed onto the light detector (12) by an optical system (8). A signal corresponding to the geometric center or the maximum (I0) of the intensity distribution of the focussed measuring spot is determined based on the measured values obtained by the light detector (12).

    摘要: A device for measuring the displacement of a movable object includes a stationary light source that produces an incident light beam. A target feature, attached to, or integral with, the object, reflects the incident light beam. A stationary photodetector, spaced from the object, receives the reflected light beam and, in response thereto, produces an electric signal having a characteristic (such as amplituded) which is proportional to a received location on the photodetector of the reflected light beam and which represents a position of the object. An imaging lens receives the reflected light beam and focusses an image of the light source on the photodetector. The target feature includes a curved surface that reflects the light beam such that a small, point-like or line-like image of the light source is focussed on the photodetector. The displacement sensor device is particularly useful in a disk drive servo system application.
