    摘要: A multimode waveguide illuminator and imager relies on a wave front shaping system that acts to compensate for modal scrambling and light dispersion by the multimode waveguide. A first step consists of calibrating the multimode waveguide and a second step consists in projecting a specific pattern on the waveguide proximal end in order to produce the desire light pattern at its distal end. The illumination pattern can be scanned or changed dynamically only by changing the phase pattern projected at the proximal end of the waveguide. The third and last step consists in collecting the optical information, generated by the sample, through the same waveguide in order to form an image. Known free space microscopy technique can be adapted to endoscopy with multimode waveguide, such as, but not limited to, fluorescence imaging or Raman spectroscopy or imaging, 3D linear scattering imaging or two-photon imaging. Super-resolution, i.e., resolution below the diffraction limit, is achieved for example but not limited to, using the STimulated Emission Depletion microscopy (STED) technique or the Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM) technique or a stochastic illumination based method (PALM, STORM) in combination with the multimode waveguide imaging method.

For example, the electrical signal can be a signal of a millimeter wave band.     摘要: Methods and apparatus for measuring the modal bandwidth of a multimode optical fiber as a function of wavelength are disclosed. The methods include emitting polarized light from a single-mode fiber, frequency-modulating the single-mode polarized light, and then conditioning the frequency-modulated polarized light to excite multiple modes of the multimode optical fiber. The multimode light transmitted by the multimode optical fiber is detected and analyzed by a network analyzer to determine a bandwidth for at least three different wavelengths. A controller performs a fit to the measured bandwidths using a fitting equation to determine the modal bandwidth as a function of wavelength.

    摘要: Systems and methods for data transport are provided which encode streams of data using low density parity check (LDPC) encoders and map data streams to symbols, by assigning bits of symbols to a signal constellation and associating bits with constellation points. Constellation points are generated using a D-dimensional optimum signal constellation design (OSCD) method. The OSCD determines an optimum source distribution for an optical channel, generates D-dimensional training sequences from the optimum source distribution, determines new signal constellation points as the center of mass for each D-dimensional cluster of points, and repeats these steps until convergence or until a predetermined number of iterations is reached. Coordinates obtained by the D-dimensional OSCD method are stored in a look-up-table (LUT), points are selected from the LUT using encoded data streams, coordinates are input into a D-dimensional modulator after digital-to-analog conversion (DAC), and a modulated signal is transmitted over an optical medium.
