Abstract:
A digital television and a channel editing method are provided wherein various channel information is edited efficiently. In the channel edit method of the digital TV, the channel information stored according to a user's request is displayed on a multi-window. If the user selects a channel based on the multi-window, the channel selected by the user is tuned by a tuner and displayed as a moving picture. The user can edit the corresponding channel referring to the multi-window. In another embodiment, the user can edit the set favorite channel(s) separately. The broadcast status of all channels can be recognized almost instantaneously by viewing the multi-window displaying all the broadcast programs of multiple channels.
Abstract:
A broadcast receiver and a method of processing data are disclosed. The broadcast receiver includes a signal receiving unit, a position information module, and a navigation unit. The signal receiving unit receives broadcast signal multiplexed mobile broadcast service data including traffic information and main broadcast service data. The position information module searches and generates a current position information of the broadcast receiver. The navigation unit assigns a weight to each link of a route to a destination based on the current position information received and the traffic information included in the mobile broadcast service data and searches for a bypass route based on the weighted link, and then performs route guidance using at least one of current route and the bypass route.
Abstract:
An apparatus such as a mobile television signal receiver includes a channel history feature. Methods for adding channels to the channel history, tuning channels from the channel history, and generally maintaining the channel history are provided. According to an exemplary embodiment, a method for adding a channel to channel history includes a step of adding a selected channel to the channel history if the channel meets a criterion. According to an exemplary embodiment, a method for tuning channels includes steps of receiving a useable program signal from a first channel, testing for presence of a useable program from a second channel without interrupting the receiving step, and if the useable program signal from the second channel is detected, tuning the second channel. According to an exemplary embodiment, a method for maintaining a channel history includes a step of maintaining a retrieved channel in the channel history if the useable program signal is present, and updating the channel history by replacing the retrieved channel with another channel if the useable program signal is not present.
Abstract:
A radio receiver having multiple AM/FM tuners. A first tuner and a second tuner may be connected with an antenna for generating a first and second composite audio output signal. A dual input digital signal processor may be connected with the first tuner and the second tuner. The first and second composite audio output signals are processed by the dual input digital signal processor to generate a first audio output signal and a second audio output signal. A first audio power amplifier may be connected with the dual input digital signal processor for receiving the first audio output signal and a second audio power amplifier may be connected with the dual input digital signal processor for receiving the second audio output signal.
Abstract:
A method and a device for a receiver for electromagnetic waves having at least two antennas are described; using this method and this device it is possible to effectively suppress multipath interference, while a portion of the antenna signals may also be utilized for other purposes at least temporarily, e.g., to allow better utilization of the possibilities of RDS activities. To do so, a first antenna signal (1) is used as the basis for generating a playback signal (23) when the signal quality of the first antenna signal (1) is above a defined threshold for undisturbed reception—case 1. In this case 1, the signal quality of the first antenna signal (1) is determined. If the signal quality of the first antenna signal (1) falls below this threshold—case 2—then a new signal y generated from at least two antenna signals (1, 2) is used as the basis for generating the playback signal (23). In case 2, the signal quality of new generated signal y and the signal quality of at least one antenna signal (2) are determined. New generated signal y is used as the basis for generating the playback signal (23) as long as the signal quality determined for the one antenna signal (2) is below this threshold and is evaluated as being inferior to the signal quality of the new generated signal y.
Abstract:
A decoder has tuners for receiving data from different sources. Each tuner has an associated demultiplexer controlled to select a portion of a received signal corresponding to a selected channel or channels. The demultiplexer output to a remultiplexer configured to determine selected signal portions that have overlapping addresses, to reallocate addresses of the signal portions so there is no overlap, and to multiplex the signal portions for supply to a common interface slot.
Abstract:
A broadcast media viewing system includes a source of a broadcast stream including primary data providing primary media content and supplemental data providing supplemental information. A media content viewing mechanism decodes the primary data and renders the primary media content to a first active display. A portable device decodes the supplemental data and renders the supplemental information to a second active display.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method, system, and apparatus for finding, playing, and recording broadcasts on a mobile device (400) that includes two or more tuners and also works as a cellular telephone. The user can provide specific preferences or a pattern of use is employed by the mobile device to identify a broadcast. The mobile device tunes one tuner (452) to an identified broadcast and plays it for the user. While one tuner is playing a broadcast, the other tuner (453) is employed to scan for another broadcast based on user preference. When another broadcast is identified, the other tuner can start playing the scanned broadcast, cause it to be recorded for play back at a later time, or resume scanning for yet another broadcast based on user preference. When the mobile device is used for other purposes, the mobile device can resume playing a broadcast from the point of interruption.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for operating a radio reception system, which comprises a plurality of receivers assigned to a common output device, in which one of the receivers is designated as audio receiver and is tuned to a frequency of a radio transmitter, and outputs a signal received from the transmitter to the output device. At least one second receiver is designated as search receiver, and continuously searches its own reception frequency band for a frequency of the same transmitter. The system changes to a frequency of this transmitter, which was found by the search receiver, if the quality of the signal received by the audio receiver falls below a certain limit.
Abstract:
Based on PIDs registered in a necessary-PID table, a second TS-packet extracting section extracts necessary packets from a second TS. Based on packets registered in the table, a detecting section detects unnecessary-packet areas in a first TS. A TS-packet overwriting section overwrites the extracted necessary packets to unnecessary-packet areas in the first TS, performs multiplexing thereof, and thereby generates a CTS, which is common to the TSs. Thereby, while a broadcast program in the first TS is viewed, image-recording of a broadcast program in the second TS can be performed. Since the configuration can be made using a separating section, a decoder, a digital interface, and the like for handling single-system TSs, reduction in the cost and size can be implemented.
