Abstract:
A rotary valve is provided with an elliptical valve disc that seats against a seal element operatively mounted in an elliptically shaped depression formed in the rigid annular portion of a seal cartridge structure carried by the valve body. Due to the elliptical shapes of the disc and corresponding seating structure, and a conical configuration of the disc periphery, sealing of the valve disc, the integrity of the seal, and the ability of the seal to completely stop the flow of fluid through the valve body are desirably improved. The centering of valve disc relative to the seal cartridge is facilitated by a specially designed disc mounting structure that eliminates any necessity of adjusting the disc along its rotational axis, and a one-piece actuator bracket is removably mounted to the valve body to substantially simplify and reduce the expense of operatively associating an actuator with the valve.

Abstract:
Hard thread milling methods and equipment provide more precise alignment for a threadably retained component A fuel injector body with a cavity for a solenoid valve is processed by steps including heat treatment before milling threads and also milling a planar seal face to which the threads are located in precise perpendicularly so a high pressure fuel line can be reliably sealed.
Abstract:
A closed system, needleless valve device includes a generally tubular body defining an internal cavity. On the proximal end of the body there is an opening which is preferably sufficiently large to receive an ANSI standard tip of a medical implement. The distal end of the body has a generally tubular skirt. The valve also includes a hollow spike having a closed tip. The spike includes at least one longitudinal 18-gauge hole located distal the tip, and is seated inside the cavity such that the tip is below the proximal end of the body. An annular support cuff is connected to the spike which seals off a portion of the cavity of the body such that an upper cavity containing the tip is defined. The valve also includes a plastic, resilient silicone seal which fills the upper cavity and opening and covers the tip of the spike so as to present a flush surface. An adaptor enables the valve to be attached to a resealable container. The valve is created by placing the spike with the seal thereon within the body. The spike and seal are preferably prevented from being removed from the body by at least one retaining tab that is created during assembly of the valve by gouging material from an inner surface of the body with a gouging bit as the valve is assembled.
Abstract:
A throttle valve for an internal combustion engine includes a body having a throttle bore defining an axis. A throttle plate for controlling air flow through the throttle valve is molded within the throttle bore, thereby providing a relatively exact throttle plate to throttle bore positional relationship The throttle plate may be integrally molded within the throttle bore and attached to the throttle body. The throttle plate is subsequently detached from the throttle body for relative rotation within the throttle bore. To facilitate detaching of the throttle plate, the plate may be weakened about is periphery. The throttle plate may be also formed with a bend for reducing throttle plate sticking upon rotation from an idle position and for controlling air leakage when the throttle plate is in the idle position. Further, the throttle plate may include a wedge to control air flow through the throttle bore and reinforcing ribs to further control the deflection of the throttle plate.
Abstract:
A valve sleeve is made from a tube having smooth inner and outer diametri surfaces by forming a shallow channel on the tube so that a channelled region of the tube is thinner than other regions of the tube. The tube is confined in a sleeve whose inner peripheral surface conforms with the tube's outer diametrical surface, but the sleeve's inner peripheral surface also defines a gap with the channelled region of the tube. Next, the tube is pressurized to deform the channelled region outward into the gap. As a result, there are both a concavity on the inner diametrical surface of the tube and a smoothly surfaced transition between the concavity and the other regions. Finally, the tube is removed from the sleeve and a port aperture is drilled in the radially outer part of the concavity. As an alternate method, a tube of constant tube wall thickness may be placed in an internally channelled confinement and then pressurized so as to distend regions of the tube wall outward. The tube is removed from the sleeve and holes are drilled in the distended regions.
Abstract:
The present invention involves an electromagnetically actuated fuel atomizing and metering valve. The valve has a metal body housing an electromagnet, a core, and an injection nozzle. The injection nozzle has at least one fuel injection orifice passage controlled by a movable shutter member fixed to an armature. The shutter member controls the passage of fuel through the injection orifice and comprises a disc delimited by a cylindrical outer lateral surface which has substantially the same diameter as the outer surface of the armature. The disc is connected to the armature by laser welding between the upper circular edge of the disc and the lower circular edge of the armature.

A method of manufacturing an orifice delay valve having an apertured plate which is formed by coining a section in the plate, eroding a portion of the coined section by electrical discharge machining followed by ultra-sonic cleaning of the plate.
Abstract:
A valve core for co-operation with a hydraulic valve sleeve, wherein the core is provided with a plurality of longitudinally extending grooves constructed for co-operation with mating radially inwardly facing grooves in the valve sleeve, wherein the grooves are constructed by a rolling operation in a manner permitting almost limitless variations in exact valve-land contour. The invention deals with the valve core thus constructed and a preferred valve slot configuration, along with a novel method and apparatus for the construction thereof.
Abstract:
Gate valves having a valve closure member slidably mounted, for closure by movement perpendicular to the fluid passage direction, in a housing center part having a pot-shaped upper portion and an approximately rectangular lower portion having flat walls including recesses for cylindrical fluid flow connections, and guide ledge lugs on the inside transverse walls of the housing center portion, on which ledge-shaped guide lugs on the plates of the closure member are slidably mounted for positive guidance of the closure member right to its closed position. The rectangular lower portions of the housing center part, including the flat walls, transverse walls, and guide ledge lugs are formed by hot backwards extrusion of a drop-forged preformed body.
