The device essentially comprises a handle designed to control the brake, a rotary plate, designed to rotate under the control of the handle and a couple of levers, a main piston which slides inside a couple of chambers designed to realize the automatic resetting of the brake, a tank for storing the air to be used for resetting the device after its activation connected to the main conduit which is used to stop the train, and resetting and monitoring means.

    摘要: An automatic brake control apparatus includes a pressure intensifying solenoid valve in a hydraulic brake line connecting a source of hydraulic pressure with a brake, as well as a pressure reducing solenoid valve in a relief line branched from the brake line and connected to a low pressure reservoir. A pressure sensor is positioned to sense a hydraulic pressure in the brake line at a position downstream of a point where the relief line branches from the brake line. A controller receives a signal from the pressure sensor and determines desired brake pressure for producing a desired speed reduction rate. The controller outputs control signals to the pressure intensifying solenoid valve and the pressure reducing solenoid valve such that the detected brake pressure corresponds to the desired brake pressure. The apparatus may be incorporated into a brake pressure control valve having first and second stages.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a self-contained electric brake controller for energizing electrically operated brakes in a towed vehicle in response to a demand by a driver in a towing vehicle. The controller includes a unique deceleration sensing unit for generating a signal proportional to the magnitude of deceleration of the towing vehicle. The deceleration sensing unit includes an outer housing adapted to be secured relative to the towing vehicle, and a pendulum mounted on an axis for pivotal movement relative to the housing. The pendulum is movable in one direction from a resting position to a predetermined extended position when the vehicle is subjected to a predetermined magnitude of deceleration. The pendulum includes a magnet spaced from the pivot axis of the pendulum. A detector such as a Hall Effect device is carried by the housing and is responsive to the magnetic field produced by the pendulum magnet for generating a position signal representing the predetermined extended position of the pendulum. This position signal corresponds to the predetermined magnitude of deceleration of the vehicle. The deceleration sensing unit includes a second magnet carried by the housing and spaced from the pendulum for producing a magnetic field which, as the pendulum swings to its extended position, opposes the magnetic field of the pendulum magnet to produce a restoring force to resist further forward movement of the pendulum. The deceleration sensing unit also includes a damping element constructed of a ferromagnetic material spaced from the pendulum magnet for damping undesirable movement of the pendulum. Also, the circuit responsive to the deceleration signal includes several unique features.

    摘要: An electric brake control circuit is responsive to an activation signal and a vehicle deceleration signal for generating a brake control signal representing a predetermined amount of braking. A comparator compares the voltage level of the brake control signal with the voltage level of a sawtooth waveform to produce a pluse width modulated signal having a duty cycle corresponding to the predetermined amount of braking. This pulse width modulated signal is supplied to an output driver for generating a brake driving signal to energize the brakes. The activation signal is generated at the voltage level of the vehicle power supply when the driver actuates the vehicle stop light switch. The circuit is responsive to the activation signal for disabling the output driver when the voltage level of the activation signal is below a predetermined level. The circuit also senses the current load on the brake driving signal to protect the output driver in the event of a full or partial short circuit condition. As the sensed current load progressively exceeds a predetermined level, the circuit progressively increases the average voltage level of the sawtooth waveform, thus causing the comparator to reduce the duty cycle of the pulse width modulated signal.

    摘要: An emergency brake application locating device for a train of cars includes a timer housing removably connected to the emergency brake vent of the first head and first rear car of the train. The housing is provided with a movable piston for actuating a timer disposed in a predetermined position therewithin. A tested time of progression of emergency brake application between the first head and the first rear cars is determined by initiating intentionally the emergency brake application and then reading the difference in time for actuation of each timer. Thereafter, the difference in elapsed time of progression of emergency brake application from the car causing an undesired emergency to the first head and to the first rear cars, respectively, is determined by again reading the difference in time for actuation of each timer. A predetermined relationship between the tested time and the elapsed time difference identifies the car causing the undesired emergency.

    摘要: This invention relates to a fail-safe vehicle brake assuring circuit for assuring that a vehicle is decelerating at a sufficient rate to a predetermined speed along a predetermined path. The circuit comprises a speed measuring device coupled to the vehicle and electrically coupled to a redundant channel deceleration detection network, which is, in turn coupled to an interlocking circuit having an output. The interlocking circuit also receives a vehicle overspeed signal input and a zero velocity input signal. The absence of an output signal on the output of the interlocking circuit is indicative of insufficient vehicle deceleration or of any speed condition coupled with a component failure in the brake assuring circuit.
