    摘要: A railway truck includes a frame having a pair of side frames and laterally extending transoms therebetween. A plurality of journal boxes are resiliently suspended from the side frames and support a pair of longitudinally spaced apart end axles extending laterally between the side frames. A pair of longitudinally spaced apart bellcranks are rotatably joined to each of the side frames between the end axles, with each bellcrank having a vertical crankshaft and a crank arm extending outwardly therefrom. A pair of traction links extend longitudinally along each of the side frames, with each link being pivotally joined between respective ones of the journal boxes and the crank arms for carrying tension and compression loads therebetween. A pair of adjoining reaction arms extend longitudinally along each of the side frames, with each reaction arm having a proximal end fixedly joined to a respective one of the crankshafts, and distal ends thereof adjoining each other. The reaction arm distal ends are joined together for carrying lateral reaction loads therebetween upon rotation of the crankshafts while permitting differential longitudinal and pivotal movement between the adjoining distal ends. Traction loads are carried in turn through the end axles, journal boxes, traction links, and bellcranks to the side frames. The end axles are self-steering in a yaw direction so that yaw of the first end axle corotates together corresponding ones of the bellcranks on opposite sides of the frame which in turn corotates together the reaction arms joined thereto which cantilever to counterrotate together the adjoining reaction arms to counterrotate the bellcranks joined thereto to counter-yaw the second end axle.

    摘要: A rail vehicle, includes an air-suspended body having an underside, an air spring having a base point and an internal air pressure, and cars supporting the body. The body rests on the cars and swings out on the air spring. There is also an emergency spring which has a core. Guide and damping devices are further disposed between the body and the cars. The guide and damping devices serve to stabilize the cars at traveling speeds of >100 km/h and suppress any sway of the cars. The guide and damping devices include a friction plate loaded against the underside of the body by the internal air pressure of the air spring. The friction plate is linked to the core of the emergency spring or the base point of the air spring to form a connection to the cars in a longitudinal direction for suppressing the sway of the cars.

Further, the saddles are mounted such that each axle end can move independently in either of a pair of opposing directions of from 3/8" to 1/2", measured from a fixed vertical plane which includes the longitudinal axis of the axle, when the truck is horizontally disposed in the rest position. Further described is a rigid framework for distributing loads to the axles of a tri-axle truck or bogie.

    摘要: A self-steering wheel truck for use with a railway locomotive or powered transit car in which tractive force is transferred from the axle to the frame through angled traction rods and steering beams connecting with the end axles. The steering beams interconnect the end axles so that the yaw of one axle induces an equal and opposite rotation of the other end axle. The traction rods are aligned at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the truck. The angled traction rod arrangement induces a force tending to return a laterally displaced axle back to center, thereby minimizing hunting while at the same time permitting self steering axle yaw action.

    摘要: The body of a rail vehicle is lowered when it is stationary to facilitate ingress and egress. The body is raised in preparation for motion to provide satisfactory road clearance. In one embodiment of the invention, a lifting cylinder, in series with a supplementary spring, is extended during travel, and is contracted when the rail vehicle is stopped. In other embodiments, a hydraulic cylinder, either alongside, or coaxial with the supplementary spring, compresses the supplementary spring when the rail vehicle is stopped. In a further embodiment, the hydraulic cylinder is replaced with an electromechanical adjusting element such as a screw drive. A control system, preferably actuated by unlocking and locking of the door opening lock, actuates the lowering and raising of the body.

    摘要: A rail car truck has a pair of longitudinally spaced wheelsets and a pair of laterally spaced side frames which extend between and are supported by the wheelsets. A bolster extends between the side frames to support the rail car vehicle body. There is a brace which is connected to the side frames to control relative longitudinal movement therebetween. The brace includes a pair of struts which are diagonally connected to the side frame on opposite sides of the centerline thereof. The struts intersect generally centrally of the side frames and there is a clamp assembly for attaching the struts together. The clamp assembly includes a pair of clamp plates, each having a channel formed and adapted to receive a strut. Each clamp plate is welded to a strut and there are fasteners which attach the facing surfaces of the clamp plates directly to each other. The clamp plates are welded one to another. The clamp assembly inhibits relative movement between the struts in a generally horizontal plane.
