    摘要: A method of leaching copper from copper sulphide-containing concentrates, such as chalcopyrite, includes using pyrite as a catalyst for ferric reduction in order to eliminate passivation of the chalcopyrite surface, the process being carried out under conditions whereby the pyrite is not materially oxidized, for example by maintaining the operating solution potential at a suitable level. The leaching is carried out in an acidic sulphate medium and may include oxidation by oxygen-containing gas. The leached copper is then recovered, for example by solvent extraction and electrowinning. The leaching process can result in the virtually complete extraction of copper at atmospheric pressure in as little as four hours.

    摘要: This invention relates to a method where sulfidic iron-bearing copper concentrate is leached on the countercurrent principle, in a chloride environment. The leaching takes place with the aid of bivalent copper and an oxygen-bearing gas as a multi-stage continuous process, under normal pressure, at a temperature, which as highest corresponds to the boiling point of the solution. Part of the insoluble solid matter is returned, counter to the main flow of solid matter, to one of the previous leaching stages or reactors where, as a result of the extended leaching time, the leach waste iron is recovered mostly as hematite.

    摘要: A method is provided for processing a sulphide mineral composition which at least partly comprises an iron-containing mineral. The method includes the steps of: (a) milling said composition to a particle size P80 of 20 microns or less; (b) leaching said composition with a solution comprising sulphuric acid and ferric ions at ambient pressure while sparging with an oxygen-containing gas in an open tank reactor at a temperature of up to about the boiling point of the solution, whereby at least some of the acid and at least some of the ferric ions are obtained from dissolution of the iron-containing mineral, and ferrous ions generated by the leaching reaction are substantially re-oxidised to ferric ions in the leaching solution; (c) precipitating excess iron and separating said iron together with any solid materials from the leaching solution; (d) extracting desired metal ions from the leaching solution by solvent extraction with an organic solvent, such that the raffinate comprises sulphuric acid and ferric ions; (e) returning the raffinate to the leaching tank and blending with further milled composition; and (f) separating the metals from the organic phase obtained in step (c) by stripping with electrolyte and electrowinning.

    摘要: A method for concurrently transporting and leaching metal values from an ore or concentrate containing said metal values from an originating site such as an elevated site to a delivery site comprising the steps of crushing and/or grinding the ore or concentrate to form a particulate having a size range suitable for transport by gravity or a combination of pumping and gravity as a solid constituent in an aqueous slurry, forming an aqueous slurry of from about 30 to about 70 percent by weight of said particulate in an aqueous medium, and adjusting said aqueous slurry to contain an effective amount of a lixiviant for dissolution of said metal values into the aqueous medium. The aqueous slurry with lixiviant is transported in an elongated pipeline under a static pressure and for a residence time sufficient for dissolution of a substantial portion of the metal values, and the aqueous medium with the metal values is separated from the solids constituent of the slurry by a hydrocone, settling tank, thickener, lagoon, pond or heap, or counter-current decantation or washing circuit for recovery of values therefrom. The ore or concentrate may contain metal oxides, metal sulphides, native metal or a combination thereof, such as for example, a copper oxide concentrate or an ore, and the lixiviant may be sulphuric acid.

    摘要: To process vanadium-containing residues, the residues are leached in an aqueous slurry with introduction of SO.sub.2, the undissolved solids are removed. To effect a processing which is simple, economical and ecologically satisfactory, vanadium content is precipitated as a tetravalent vanadium compound from the sulfate solution at a pH from 7 to 9 by an addition of alkali metal hydroxide and the precipitate is removed from the alkali metal sulfate solution.
