Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying a plurality of mobile devices implementing an application, and identifying a group of mobile devices from among the plurality of mobile devices according to a first movement pattern of the group of mobile devices. Further aspects can include identifying a first mobile edge compute (MEC) node at a first location according to a proximity threshold that does not include a MEC agent for the application, and identifying a second MEC node at a second location that includes the MEC agent for the application according to the proximity threshold. Additional aspects can include determining a first network relative performance (NRP) metric associated with a first communications between the group of mobile devices and the second MEC node. The first communications are associated with the application. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting a transit speed of a device, resulting in a detected transit speed; responsive to the detected transit speed satisfying a first threshold, including information in a message related to a handover request between a first access point of a network and a second access point of the network, the information being indicative of an amount of time that the device has been in a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) mode; and sending, to the first access point with which the device communicates and is transitioning away from, the message including the information that is indicative of the amount of time that the device has been in the DRX mode. Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining data relating to a user equipment, where the user equipment is communicatively coupled to a first network node, and where the first network node employs a first radio access technology, determining whether there is an initiation of a call session for the user equipment to be facilitated by the first network node, determining, according to the data relating to the user equipment and responsive to determining that there is an initiation of a call session, a probability that the call session will become disconnected, and controlling connectivity between the user equipment and a second network node based on the probability that the call session will become disconnected, wherein the second network node employs a second radio access technology. Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a processing system detects user equipment (UE) in communication with a network via a serving cell of the network; the network is configured to facilitate communications by one or more terrestrial UEs and one or more aerial UEs. The system monitors messages from an aerial UE regarding detection of a cell other than the serving cell, and receives information from the aerial UE regarding the detected cell. The method further includes analyzing the information to estimate a first quantity associated with the detected cell location relative to the serving cell and a second quantity associated with a power received at the aerial UE from the detected cell. The method also includes determining, based on the analyzing, whether the aerial UE is an unauthorized aerial UE. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: An architecture to avoid handover ping-pong for aerial user equipment (UE) operational in terrestrial fourth generation (4G) and/or fifth generation (5G) long term evolution (LTE) networks. A method can comprise receiving a request to connect to the network equipment from aerial user equipment; based on the request to connect, retrieving subscription data; based on the subscription data, determining that the aerial user equipment is aerial equipment; determining that the aerial user equipment is engaged in a ping-pong handover event with terrestrial based network equipment situated within a defined geographic area; and transmitting instructions to the aerial user equipment to confirm the ping-pong handover event, wherein the instruction comprises a delay value representing a back off time value for the aerial user equipment to refrain from gathering measurement data within the defined geographic area.

Abstract: A method includes registering, by a primary cell site processor, an unmanned aerial vehicle, receiving, by the primary cell site processor, a list of one or more potential secondary cell sites from the unmanned aerial vehicle, timing advances associated with the one or more secondary cell sites, deriving, by the primary cell site processor, a number of component carriers within each of the one or more potential secondary cell sites, selecting, by the primary cell site processor, one or more secondary cell sites from the one or more potential secondary cell sites, and transmitting, by the primary cell site processor, instructions to the one or more secondary cell sites to provide a component carrier to the unmanned aerial vehicle.
