Abstract:
Systems for, and methods of, controlling exhaust gas temperature in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine during positive power operation of the engine are disclosed. Control of exhaust gas temperature may be desired to improve emissions performance in the engine, which is often dependent upon exhaust gas temperature. One or more temperature probes may be used to first determine the actual exhaust gas temperature of the engine while it is operated in a positive power mode. Next, an ECM or similar device may be used to determine a temperature difference between the actual exhaust gas temperature and a desired exhaust gas temperature for emissions performance. Based on the determined temperature difference, one or more cylinders of the engine may continue to be operated in positive power mode while one or more cylinders of the engine are switched to operating in a selected engine braking mode. The operation of some cylinders in positive power mode while operating other cylinders in engine braking mode may cause the actual exhaust gas temperature to change and more closely match the desired exhaust gas temperature.
Abstract:
A financial transaction product includes a media player, a housing, and an account identifier. The media player is configured to receive and store compressed digital media files and to convert the compressed digital media files into sound waves. The housing at least partially encloses the media player. The account identifier links the housing to at least one of a financial account or a financial record. Methods of encouraging purchase and facilitating use of a financial transaction card assembly and other embodiments are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An electromagnet assembly for supplying a region of concentrated electromagnetic flux is provided. The assembly includes a flat strip of an electrically conductive metal. The strip has a first and a second opposite planar surfaces at least one of which is covered by a dielectric material. The strip has first and second end portions. The strip is wound in a coil including at least one first loop and one second loop and disposing the second opposite planar surface in the first loop substantially-adjacent the first opposite planar surface in the second loop. The coil is disposed about an axis of symmetry configured to concentrate electromagnetic flux at a midpoint on the axis of symmetry. First and second electrical terminals are connected at the first and second end portions, respectively.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for controlling administration of Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) queues of an ACD or network of ACDs by a caller, and of communicating data to and from an ACD Agent. The caller receives information concerning the status of queues in one or a plurality of ACDs. If the caller wishes to communicate with a particular Agent, wait time for that Agent is provided to the caller. The caller can select a particular Agent, and will be connected when that Agent becomes available subject to other restrictions of the ACD queue. The caller can prepare information for transmission to an answering Agent while the caller waits. Advantageously, the caller can control which Agent or which sub-group of Agents should respond to his/her call, taking into account the different waiting times associated with a particular Agent or the first available Agent when the caller reaches the top of the queue. Advantageously, the caller can link to ACD Agents from multiple companies by accessing an ACD Network.
Abstract:
A system and method for polling communication lines in a communication system having a plurality of communication lines and at least one telemetry device coupled to one of the plurality of communication lines. The method comprises the steps of creating a polling signal at the network switch, transmitting the polling signal from the network switch to one of the communication lines and determining whether the one communication line is associated with the telemetry device.
Abstract:
A power supply for an electromagnetic force system comprising a slow current pulse system in parallel with a dumping circuit feeding a blocking inductor in parallel with a series of diodes; a fast current pulse system of opposing polarity and parallel to the slow current pulse system and blocking inductor, the fast pulse system including a triggered vacuum spark-gap for discharging the fast current pulse system through a working coil such that the current through the coil decreases rapidly and the magnetic field in the gap decreases substantially while the magnetic field in and behind the work piece decreases only slightly, resulting in a large field gradient across the work piece and the creation of a pulse of tension force on the work piece.
Abstract:
A telecommunication network with a local multi-interfacing multiport switch with a remotely controllable line multi-interface for alternatively, selectively, connecting different line unit interfaces to a single customer line to enable both digital and analog communication on a single line.
Abstract:
The system for transmitting a change in call queued/hold state across a communications network (termed “call state notification system” herein) functions to provide an indication to the parties on the existing call connection that the calling party has placed the call on hold and/or the call center has advanced the call connection to the head of the queue for connection to an agent. This is accomplished by enabling the calling party to place their call termination on hold to serve another call or to perform some other task without having to physically monitor the call connection. When the calling party removes the hold state at their terminal device, the call center receives a notification of the reconnection of the calling party to the call connection. In addition, when the call center advances the call connection to the head of the queue, the call state notification system notifies the calling party and, if the call connection is on hold, the call center maintains the calling party's position at the head of the queue until the calling party returns to the call connection.
