Abstract: An ultrasonic sealing system in a machine for making composite webs in the production of absorbent sanitary articles includes a contact roller having an axis of rotation and including a central portion and a peripheral portion which is supported by the central portion and includes an outer surface forming the outer surface of the contact roller itself. The contact roller includes a sealing pattern on the outer surface of the peripheral portion and also includes springs acting between the central portion and the peripheral portion, which is supported by the peripheral portion by means of the springs.

Abstract: A machine for making absorbent sanitary articles such as nappies for babies or incontinence pads for adults, sanitary towels and the like, comprises a programmable electronic controller device comprising a shift register and at least one optical inspection system connected to the programmable electronic controller device; the programmable electronic controller device generates a synchronism signal having a train of consecutive pulses defining a machine step, a trigger signal for activating the optical inspection system in a synchronised fashion with the synchronism signal and a shift register shift command within a machine step, the programmable electronic controller device also generates an identifier which is uniquely associated with the article inspected by the optical inspection system and sends that identifier with the trigger signal to the optical inspection system; the optical inspection system receives the identifier and, when a response time has elapsed, associates reject information with the respective identifier.

Abstract: A rotary device for welding a continuous web comprises a rotary unit rotating about a respective axis and welding units for welding the web mounted, angularly spaced, on the rotary unit. A movement device varies a radial position of the welding units. First and second supporting elements supporting the web are disposed, respectively, upstream and downstream of respective ones of the welding units, to keep the web tensioned when the respective welding unit is at an operating position. The first and second supporting elements are supported by a load-bearing structure connected to the welding units in such a way that a radial movement of the welding units corresponds to a movement of the first and second supporting elements towards and away from the axis.

Abstract: A device for applying pieces to absorbent articles includes a supporting shaft rotating an axis; anvils rotating about the axis; a cutting unit operating with an anvil contact surface defining a cutting station for cutting a web into pieces; pads, each having a retaining surface for a piece, are moved about the axis for conveying a piece from the cutting station to a releasing station for release onto a substrate. Each pad rotates for varying the orientation from the cutting station, where the larger side of the pad is parallel to feed of the web, to the releasing station, where the larger side of the pad is transversal to the feed of the receiving substrate, and vice versa. Each pad translates parallel to the pad axis, away from and towards the shaft axis. Each pad has an oscillating movement about its own axis.
