Abstract:
A mechanism (16) for controlling independently the pitch of a plurality of blades (15A, 15B, 15C) of a wind turbine (10) includes: a hub (11) rotatable about an axis (x-x) relative to a nacelle (12); a plurality of blades mounted on the hub for rotation therewith about the hub axis, each blade having a shaft (21) and being mounted on the hub for rotation about its axis of elongation; a plurality of motors (34) mounted on the nacelle, each motor having an output shaft (35) and being associated with a respective one of the blades; and a coupling mechanism (37) operatively interposed between each motor and its associated blade for selectively rotating such blade about its axis to vary the pitch of the associated blade relative to the hub axis. The pitch of each blade may be controlled independently of the pitch of the others.
Abstract:
The improvement in cyclically operated extrusion apparatus of providing electronic interpolator means responsive to different portions of the total range of a continuously variable signal which is provided during each cycle of operation, programmable means for selecting portions of the interpolator output signals, means for summing such programmed output signals to provide a command signal for servocontroller means which effects relative movement between a die head and pintle to provide a variable orifice through which extrudable material is forced to form a parison of controlled wall thickness. Variations of the broad concept contemplate generating the continuously variable signal by an electrical transducer machine slaved to some movable element of the apparatus, or by a ramp generator which may have an electromechanical integrator or an electronic integrator. More specific features include the capability of selecting two or more programs, serviced by a single electronic interpolator means, for simultaneous control of a corresponding number of separate functions.
Abstract:
A tool changer is disclosed for automatically removing a working tool after having been used from the spindle of a machine tool such as a vertical milling machine, transferring the used working tool to a rack which stores a plurality of working tools, picking up from the rack another working tool for the next machining operation, transferring such new working tool to the spindle, and operatively mounting such new working tool on the spindle.
Abstract:
Hysteretic equalization means are disclosed for equalizing or matching the outputs of two or more servovalves operating simultaneously in a multi-channel or redundant servopositioning apparatus. Such equalization avoids system deadzone and reduces the transient that may occur upon shut-off of one servovalve. The equalization is accomplished by feeding back the interchannel mismatch through means having a hysteresis characteristic.
Abstract:
An easy to manufacture and service two-stage servo valve of the deflectable free jetstream-type is provided having a split body construction, part of which houses the second-stage or output valve spool which controls the flow of fluid through actuating ports with respect to supply and return ports, and the other part of which supports the jet deflector hydraulic amplifier and torque motor to constitute a separable first-stage assembly. Although there is mechanical force feedback between the valve spool and armature of the torque motor, the servo valve is so constructed that no feedback forces are transmitted through the jetstream deflector. This enables the deflector to be designed as a nonstructural element for ease of manufacture and made of a material having the desired physical characteristics such as one resistant to fluid erosion.
