Abstract: A flow cell includes a body and a flow channel. The body is formed out of blocks made of an uniaxial crystal material and joined to one another. The flow channel is formed inside the body, so that the flow cell is configured to be used to measure particles passing through the flow channel based on reception of scattered light generated from the particles. A crystallographic c-axis in a predetermined part of the body is configured to being substantially perpendicular to both a receiving direction and a polarization direction of the scattered light.

Abstract: A particle counting system includes a particle counting means and pre-stage irradiation means. The particle counting means counts particles existing in a fluid by irradiating the fluid containing target particles with light at a predetermined wavelength, separating selectively autofluorescence or phosphorescence emitted from the target particles by the radiated light, receiving the separated autofluorescence or phosphorescence, and determining that the target particles are the particles according to the received autofluorescence or phosphorescence. The pre-stage irradiation means irradiates the fluid with ultraviolet light in advance before the particle counting means irradiates the fluid with the light at the predetermined wavelength. The particle counting means includes a band-pass filter that allows light having a wavelength of 450 nm to 600 nm to pass therethrough.

Abstract: A microbial particle is accurately counted in distinction from a non-microbial particle. A preceding-stage irradiation section 2 irradiates a sample as fluid with ultraviolet light at a preceding stage of a microbial particle counter 1. The ultraviolet light is ultraviolet light having a deep ultraviolet region, the ultraviolet light increasing the fluorescence intensity of a first autofluorescence substance in the microbial particle. The microbial particle counter 1 measures light intensity in a first wavelength range including the fluorescence wavelength of the first autofluorescence substance. In addition, the microbial particle counter 1 measures light intensity in a specific second wavelength range. Further, the microbial particle counter 1 counts the microbial particle in distinction from a non-microbial particle in the fluid based on the measured light intensity in the first wavelength range and the measured light intensity in the specific second wavelength range.

Abstract: An installation structure of a vibrator includes elastic members formed of an elastic material, the elastic members being arranged between a housing of a listening device, and the vibrator accommodating an electromechanical transducer for transducing an electric signal into mechanical vibration. The vibrator is installed on the listening device such that a lower surface of the vibrator is disposed at a position facing an ear cartilage in a state where the listening device is worn on an ear, and a first mechanical impedance of the elastic members between the vibrator and the housing is set smaller, at a frequency of 200 Hz to 1000 Hz, than twice a second mechanical impedance, with which the vibrator is loaded, of the ear cartilage.

Abstract: Provided is a hearing aid including a receiver, a microphone, an adaptive filter estimating a feedback transfer function from the receiver to the microphone, a subtractor, a hearing aid processor, a first whitening filter, a second whitening filter having a whitening filter coefficient identical to that of the first whitening filter, a coefficient updater, and a controller controlling the adaptive filter and the first and second whitening filters. The controller updates and saves, as a stabilization coefficient, the coefficient of the adaptive filter in a condition in which the autocorrelation of the first signal is low, determines the presence or absence of a change in the feedback transfer function based on the coefficient of the adaptive filter and the stabilization coefficient, and performs, when it is determined that the feedback transfer function has changed, the control in order that effectiveness of whitening by the first and second whitening filters is reduced as compared to that when it is determined that the feedback transfer function does not change.

Abstract: A microviable particle counting system includes: a microviable particle counting instrument configured to detect autofluorescence of a microviable particle in a sample as fluid, thereby counting the microviable particle in the sample; and a former-stage irradiator provided at a former stage of the microviable particle counting instrument to irradiate the sample with ultraviolet light.
