    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for reducing peak power consumption of a grid connected power plant having a plurality of wind turbines. In response to determining that a power production value of the power plant is below a power threshold, one method includes: after a first time delay of a first group of one or more wind turbines, control the first group to operate in a power saving mode for a predefined first power saving period; and after a first time delay of a second group of one or more other wind turbines, control the second group to operate in the power saving mode for a predefined second power saving period. The first time delay of the first group is less than the first time delay of the second group and the power saving mode inhibits a power consuming activity for the wind turbines operating in the power saving mode.

    Abstract: A tip bolster (32) for supporting a wind turbine blade (40) on a railcar (14) includes a clamp (360) including first and second clamp arms (364, 366) having first and second jaws (384, 386), respectively, and being configured to be selectively movable relative to each other in a clamping direction for applying and releasing a clamping force on the blade (40) interposed therebetween, via the first and second jaws (384, 386), wherein the first and second clamp arms (364, 366) are configured to be urged relatively toward each other in response to a decrease in the clamping force.

    Abstract: A reinforcing structure for a wind turbine blade is in the form of an elongate stack of layers of pultruded fibrous composite strips supported within a U-shaped channel. The length of each layer is slightly different to create a taper at the ends of the stack; the centre of the stack has five layers, and each end has a single layer. The ends of each layer are chamfered, and the stack is coated with a thin flexible pultruded fibrous composite strip extending the full length of the stack. The reinforcing structure extends along a curved path within the outer shell of the blade. The regions of the outer shell of the blade on either side of the reinforcing structure are filled with structural foam, and the reinforcing structure and the foam are both sandwiched between an inner skin and an outer skin.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to a method for determining annual energy production of a wind farm. The method comprises: receiving a definition of the wind farm; modelling the wind field of the wind farm for a plurality of freestream wind speeds in a plurality of wind directions; defining locations for virtual measurement masts upstream of upstream turbines in each wind direction at a clearance from each upstream turbine for identifying wind farm blockage effects; determining a wind farm blockage factor for each freestream wind speed in each wind direction based on data from the virtual measurement masts; receiving measurements from a physical measurement mast located at the site of the wind farm; and determining an annual energy production for the wind farm based on adjusted wind speeds obtained by applying the blockage factors to measurements from the physical measurement mast.

    Abstract: A method of erecting a wind turbine on a wind turbine site, the wind turbine comprising a turbine tower and a nacelle. The method comprises the following steps: providing a plurality of tower sections being arrangeable upon each other in a vertical orientation in a tower structure to form the turbine tower; providing at least one damper unit configured to dampen oscillations of the turbine tower; attaching a damper unit to one of the plurality of the tower sections on an outside thereof, and subsequently arranging the tower section in the tower structure, and arranging the nacelle on top of the tower structure while the damper unit is attached to a tower section in the tower structure.

    Abstract: A wind turbine generator nacelle (14) comprises a nacelle frame (44) having a first forward hub end and a second aft end. Dedicated transport fittings (46) are positioned at each of the ends of the nacelle frame (44). The fittings (46) are adapted to be engaged by transport frames (86) on first and second transport trailers (80) for supporting the nacelle frame (44) for transport by the trailers (80). A service platform (20) is mounted to the transport fittings (46) on the aft end of the nacelle frame (44) such that the service platform (20) is cantilevered off of the aft end of the nacelle frame (44).
