    摘要: A photonic crystal fiber has a configuration in which a multiplicity of voids are arranged along the longitudinal direction of the fiber and with a regular sectional structure, a terminal end portion of the fiber is fusion bond sealed with a fusing material composed of a glass lower than a light propagation medium of the fiber in softening temperature, and the terminal end portion is connected to a ferrule with the fusing material. With this configuration, it is possible to obviate the lowerings in optical characteristics such as a large refractive index difference between the light propagation medium and the voids, a high light transmission efficiency, a high numerical aperture, etc., and to obviate such problems as the penetration of foreign matter into the inside of the voids, a burning failure arising from a positional staggering of the ferrule, etc.

    摘要: An optical disc inclination detecting method for detecting an inclination angle of an optical disc with respect to a light spot, for recording information or reproducing information by irradiating the light spot on the optical disc by an optical pickup. The method includes dividing the light spot into a main spot and both side spots in a specified track and track crossing directions before and after the specified track, detecting signals corresponding to a reflected light from the optical disc by photo detectors corresponding to the main spot and both side spots, and generating a DPP (differential push-pull) signal from signals corresponding to the main spot and both side spots. The method also generates a DPD (differential phase direction) signal by comparing phases from the signals corresponding to the main spot, determining a differential operation value of the DPP and DPD signals, and detecting the inclination angle of the optical disc based on the differential operation value.

    摘要: In a three-spot tracking control system for a multi-layer optical disc, stray light of the signal-reproducing main beam from a layer other than the layer being reproduced leaks into first and second photodetectors receiving the reflected beam of two auxiliary tracking controlling beams to render the tracking operation unstable. In order to overcome this drawback, a first photodetector detects one auxiliary reflected beam from one or the other of the information signal layers of a double-layer optical disc. The second photodetector detects the other reflected auxiliary beam from the information signal layer. A first upper envelope detector detects the upper envelope signal of the reflected auxiliary beam. A second upper envelope detector detects the upper envelope signal of the detection signal of the other reflected auxiliary beam. A first subtractor subtracts the detected output by the first upper envelope detector 6 from the detection signal of the first photodetector. A second subtractor subtracts the detected output by the second upper envelope detector from the detection signal of the second photodetector.
