摘要: Copolymers and methods using the copolymers control the stability, the homogeneity of mixtures and the chargeability of a nanoparticle. A block copolymer-nanoparticle composition includes first, second and third block units that each include repeating units of respective monomers. The monomer of the first block unit includes a binding group that binds to the nanoparticle. The monomer of the second block unit includes a hydrophobic moiety that provides steric stabilization of the nanoparticle and homogeneity of mixtures of the copolymer-nanoparticle composition in a non-polar medium. The monomer of the third block unit includes a chargeable group that imparts a charge to the nanoparticle. An order of the respective block units in the copolymer and the number of repeating units of the monomer in the respective block units control the stability, the homogeneity of mixtures and the charge of the nanoparticle.

摘要: A method of and apparatus for obtaining radiation interaction data related to an image of an object. The method involves using a detector system for detecting and collecting spectroscopically resolvable information about incident radiation, and collecting one or more datasets of information at the detector after interaction with an object. Each dataset is resolved across at least three frequency bands within the spectrum of the source. The ratio between measured intensities is evaluated for at least two pairs of such frequency bands in a given intensity dataset to obtain a numerical indicator in functional relationship with a material property. The numerical indicator is then compared with a library of data characteristics of target materials. An apparatus is also disclosed for inspection of materials

摘要: A media storage device is provided. The device comprises different configurations of a luminescent layer comprising a luminescent material capable of emitting light while being bombarded by a beam from a beam transmitter, a detector for detecting the light emitted from the luminescent layer, and a phase-change layer located proximate the luminescent layer. The phase-change layer is able to transform from a first phase to a second phase. Light emitted from the luminescent layer and received by the detector materially differs when the phase-change layer transforms from the first phase to the second phase.

摘要: A system for delivering material onto a substrate. The system includes a jetting system having a reservoir containing the material and the reservoir includes a nozzle through which the material is expelled from the reservoir. An arcuate section is positioned between the reservoir and the nozzle. The material is configured to travel from the reservoir, through the arcuate section, and through the nozzle. The system also includes a means for applying pressure on the material contained in the reservoir, wherein the material is expelled from the reservoir through application of pressure by the means for applying pressure to thereby create a column of the material from the nozzle. A means for producing pressure modulations is located proximate the nozzle and is configured to substantially regulate formation of droplets from the column of the material. In addition, the system includes a charging ring configured to induce an electrical charge to selective ones of the droplets as they pass through the charging ring. One or more deflection plates is also included for altering a trajectory of the charged droplets.

摘要: A data storage unit is disclosed. The data storage unit can comprise a data storage layer having a plurality of data storage areas. Each data storage area can be configured to carry at least one bit of data. An electron beam emitter can be configured to selectively direct a beam of electrons toward the data storage layer to enable one or more of the data storage areas to be read. The data storage layer can further be configured to filter the beam of electrons directed toward the data storage layer according to a state of the data storage area. The data storage unit further comprises a layer adjacent to the data storage layer (LASL) in which carriers are generated in response to the number of electrons reaching the LASL. A detection region can be in carrier communication with the LASL and configured to measure carrier transport in the detection region to determine the state of the storage area.

摘要: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for detecting an intrusion to a communications network. One embodiment describes a system for detecting intrusions. The system has a peripheral card coupled to a host computer system. The peripheral card has a communications portion and a processor managing the communications portion. The communications portion has only a capability for receiving data packets via a communications network. The communications portion lacks capability of transmitting the data packets via the communications network. The communications portion of the peripheral card reduces intrusion of the communications network.
