Abstract:
A method for non-recursive data driven parameter evaluation within an information management system (e.g., a relational database management system, RDBMS). Parameters are attributes within an RDBMS system whose value can be modified to influence the manner in which a database environment responds. Depending on the character of the data within a database environment or the hardware resources allocated to the database, the parameter values have a large influence on the performance efficiency of the database. For instance, a parameter value may influence the memory size of certain data storage areas within a database environment and, if set too small, can cause an inefficiently large amount of input/output accesses to occur as data is moved in and out of disk storage. Also, many parameters are data dependent on other parameters. The novel system presents an automated system for evaluating parameters using a non-recursive evaluation process. By using a non-recursive approach, the evaluation process is streamlined in that only one pass yields an optimum parameter evaluation and the results are reproducible. The novel system identifies a set of parameters within an environment to be tuned, eliminates cyclic dependencies, and orders the parameters based on independence, levels of dependence, impact on system performance and common data usage. The present invention is data driven because rules within a respective parameter are then evaluated based on data availability to arrive at a set of parameter value recommendations. In one embodiment instance, tablespace, system environment, and schema parameters can be evaluated within a RDBMS tuning session.
Abstract:
The forward deck of a swath or catamaran type vessel is constructed largely of a sieve-type material, such as honeycomb-type deck grating. Should the foredeck of the vessel, which is normally suspended above the water line become submerged by plowing into a wave, or otherwise inundated by large masses of green water which would otherwise tend to weight the bow of the vessel down, the above deck water will simply drain through the sieve-type material and permit the inherent flotation of the pontoons and hull of the vessel to promptly raise the bow to relative horizontal position.
Abstract:
The claimed invention relates to a container assembly for applying grease to the ball of a trailer hitch. Specifically, the grease applicator comprises a lower housing with an upper concave surface and an upper housing with an upper concave surface further comprising at least one aperture. Grease is introduced between the upper concave surface of the lower housing and the upper concave surface of the upper housing such that when the two surfaces are pressed together grease is emitted from the at least one aperture in the upper concave surface.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for planarization of a die-to-wafer integration. A planarization coating may be applied to the die-to-wafer assembly, and a planarization plate may be used in the planarization process. The planarization plate may include perforations configured to allow a portion of the planarization coating to extrude through the planarization plate.
Abstract:
System and method are provided where a plurality of luminaires, control switches, occupancy detectors, and photocells are connected to a central control module including a user interface which is used for setting up, testing, commissioning and maintaining the system; a memory card interface and associated memory card which can be used to load and save configuration data, update firmware, and log system operation. Lighting system can be set up and tested and then the configuration saved in a portable memory, such as on a memory card which can be transferred to another system where it is read to facilitate faster and easier configuring of the other system to parallel, or to be exactly like, the original system. Data stored on a portable memory can be automatically recognized to perform appropriate actions such as, for example: update configuration, or update firmware. Also provided is switching between different mutually exclusive lighting modes where the lighting of each mode is sequenced such that the second lighting mode is initiated before the first mode is terminated, resulting in a continuity of lighting in the controlled area. Other features include daylight harvesting control with multiple zone dimming and switching, programmable attack and decay dimming rates, the ability to return a system to its previous dimming level after the lights have been turned off, and the ability to start the controlled lights at full light level then dim down to the previous level to ensure the lighting ballast have sufficient voltage to start up.
