摘要： A tape cartridge includes a single tape reel around which a length of magnetic tape is wound and which is turnably held within a housing. The beginning of the tape is drawn out through an opening formed in the housing by a tape drawing-out member of a recorder. The drawing-out member has an engaging member at the outer end. The housing has a cell in which a hook member to catch an engaging end of a leader tape, when the leader tape holding the beginning of the magnetic tape is used, is detachably fitted and a cell in which a leader member to hold the beginning of the magnetic tape, when the leader member is used, is contained. The housing is made using a mold which forms a cell having a leader member holding the beginning of the magnetic tape or which forms the cell without the leader member.

摘要： A tape reel for a tape cassette capable of substantially preventing deformation thereof, even when it is thin-walled to substantially reduce a cycle time required for a molding step of the tape reel. The tape reel includes a reel hub and a disc-like flange. Reinforcing ribs include an annular rib arranged on an outer periphery of a disc-like flange and a plurality of linear ribs arranged on an outer surface of the disc-like flange so as to extend from a core stabilizing surface rib to the annular rib. The linear ribs are so arranged that each of the linear ribs intersects at least one of the other linear ribs at a position which is further than a midpoint between the core stabilizing surface rib and the annular rib.

摘要： A reel spring for tape cassettes includes at least two mounting holes which are formed in the base portion at opposite sides with respect to a tape reel centerline connecting reel centers and in such a manner to be spaced in the direction of the tape reel centerline, and which is used for melt-bonding with the cassette housing. The base portion is arranged so as to have a center laid on the tape reel centerlines, respective end portions are arranged so as to have their centerlines passed through respective contact points for urging a pair of tape reels, extended in parallel with each other and deviated with respect to the tape reel centerlines. The width of the base portion is substantially the same as that of the end portions. The reel spring is prepared through a cutting step for cutting a stock up to positioning holes from opposite edges of the stock so that the cutting is made with the same width as the width of a reel spring end portion, along separation lines which deviate with respect to the tape reel centerline, extend in parallel with one another and pass in the vicinity of the mounting holes, the separation lines including separation lines for reel spring end portions at one side and separation lines for reel spring end portions at the other side which are out of alignment.

摘要： A plasma-polymerized film is formed by depositing and polymerizing a metal element-containing material forming an electrode and a gaseous polymerizable carbon-containing reactant in a plasma atmosphere. The polymerized film contains the metal element Mt and carbon C in an atomic ratio Mt/(C+Mt) of at least 1/100. The polymerized film is prepared under a condition W/(F.M) of at least 10.sup.8 joule/kg wherein W is a power applied for plasma generation in joule/sec., F is a flow rate of the gaseous reactant, and M is the molecular weight of the gaseous reactant, F.M being expressed in kg/sec. Such a polymerized film is advantageously applied as a coating to a surface of a member which constructs or is disposed in a casing in which a tape or disk-shaped medium is received for travel or rotating motion.

摘要： A tape cartridge having an identification hole for the prevention of accidental removal of recorded information or for no erasing formed in a housing of the cartridge and an additional identification hole formed in the vicinity of the first hole for a different purpose, both of the holes being adapted to engage with a no-erasing member which opens or closes the same. The no-erasing member when incorporated in the cartridge is able to open or close the no-erasing identification hole depending on the position of the member itself while normally closing the different-purpose identification hole and, when not incorporated in the cartridge, it allows the different-purpose identification hole to remain open whereby the tape cartridge is identified to be a different one. The two identification holes may be united into one. The different-purpose identification hole may be a hole intended for the identification of a cleaning cartridge.

A cam portion for guiding the rear cover has a first inclined portion, a second inclined portion more inclined than the first inclined portion, and a perpendicular portion more inclined than the second inclined portion.
