Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a source base station (BS), an indication that the UE is to perform a conditional handover from the source BS to a target BS and is to perform at least one of: a two protocol stack handover from the source BS to the target BS or a dual connectivity handover from the source BS to the target BS. The UE may perform the conditional handover and at least one of the two protocol stack handover or the dual connectivity handover based at least in part on the indication. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: As wireless communication technology advances, the bandwidth usage of wireless communications systems becomes increasingly flexible. For example, different user equipment (UEs) may support different bandwidths or radio frequency capabilities. However, a scheduling entity may not know wireless capabilities or characteristics (e.g., supported bandwidths, RF chain configurations, reconfiguration times, and/or the like) of the UEs for which the scheduling entity is to manage communications, which may hamper the ability of the scheduling entity to take advantage of the advances in flexible bandwidth usage described above. Techniques for synchronization, scheduling, bandwidth allocation, and reference signal transmission in a wireless communications system associated with flexible bandwidth allocation, such as a 5G network, are described herein.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, apparatuses and computer-readable medium for wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a first base station (BS) associated with a fifth generation New Radio (5G NR) radio access technology (RAT), a command of mobility from the 5G NR RAT to a second RAT. The UE may determine that the command of mobility is for voice fallback. The UE may transmit, to a second BS associated with the second RAT and based at least in part on determining that the command of mobility is for voice fallback, a radio resource control (RRC) connection request communication for attempting to communicatively connect with the second BS for voice fallback.

Abstract: Coverage enhancements and coverage mode switching related optimizations are discussed for user equipments (UEs) that may switch between various coverage extension (CE) and non-CE modes of operation. In such enhancements, paging uncertainty and delays may be reduced by sending pages either simultaneously or using historical information over multiple coverage modes available to UEs. Random access procedures may be improved by providing CE mode random access procedures that are available when normal mode random access attempts fail and before declaring radio link failure. Additional aspects include improvements for more advanced UEs to improve coverage within normal mode operations by leveraging techniques used for narrowband CE mode operations, including transmission repetition and gapless transmission scheduling over hopped narrowband frequencies.

Abstract: In an aspect, while a mobile device is operating in a RRC_Idle State, an RRC_Suspended State, an RLF State and/or an RLF Recovery Procedure State, the mobile device may transmit a connection establishment message to a base station of a plurality of base stations. In an aspect, the connection establishment message includes information that indicates whether the mobile device has information associated with signals transmitted by one or more base stations of the plurality of base stations. The mobile device may initiate transmission of the information associated with the signals to the base station subsequent to establishing a security context for the connection between the mobile device and the base station. In some aspects, the mobile device may scramble the information associated with signals and transmit the information associated with signals to the base station prior to establishing a security context for a connection between the mobile device and the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for identification, on a per-PLMN basis of a type of core network associated with each PLMN in a list of networks associated with a base station. A user equipment (UE) may receive the list of networks and, based at least in part on the type(s) of core network accessible via each PLMN and a capability of the UE, initiate a connection establishment with a PLMN and associated core network. In some cases, UEs that are not capable of connections with a first type of core network (e.g., a 5G core network) may be restricted from camping on a cell or PLMN that may provide only connections with the first type of core network (e.g., a 4G core network).
