Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some user equipments (UEs) and base stations may communicate in a set of transmission time intervals (TTIs) according to a configured subcarrier spacing (SCS). Each TTI may include, in accordance with the SCS, a quantity of symbols, a corresponding quantity of cyclic prefixes, and a padding duration that may be longer than a symbol duration. The base station may transmit a control signal to the UE to indicate a configuration for the padding duration. The configuration may allocate the padding duration for reference signal repetition or one or more other operations. In some examples, the padding duration may be allocated for beam switching, and the one or more other operations may be different than beam switching. The UE and the base station may perform the reference signal repetition or the other operations during the padding duration based on the configuration.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting wireless device may identify different sets of bits that are included in information bits of a signal to be transmitted. For example, a first set of bits may be used as an index for a second set of bits, and the second set of bits may include multiple groups of bits, where each group may have a same size (e.g., a same quantity of bits). Based on the groups of bits having the same size, the transmitting wireless device may obtain candidate partial transmit sequences (PTSs) based on applying phase rotations to respective inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) outputs associated with each group of bits. The transmitting wireless device may select a PTS from the candidate PTSs and may transmit the signal including the information bits to a receiving wireless device using the selected PTS.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive information that indicates whether to perform a first random access channel (RACH) procedure for a non-terrestrial network or a second RACH procedure for a terrestrial network, wherein the first RACH procedure is configured to support a larger number of UEs contemporaneously performing a RACH procedure than the second RACH procedure. Responsive to the information indicating that the UE is to perform the first RACH procedure, the UE may perform the first RACH procedure. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Techniques described herein provide for managing peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) using an index modulation scheme. A first communication device may generate a set of information bits to convey to a second communication device via the index modulation scheme. A set of extra information bits may be generated using a linear coding scheme, and the set of extra information bits may be inserted into the set of information bits. The first communication device may encode the set of information bits with the inserted extra, and the first communication device may transmit, to the second communication device, a signal including the encoded set of information bits.
