In one embodiment, the method can include: transmitting scheduling information for the transmission of information on frequencies corresponding to an unreserved portion of a frequency band. The method can also include transmitting scheduling information for the transmission of information on frequencies corresponding to a reserved portion of the frequency band. A frequency reuse scheme can be employed over the frequencies corresponding to the reserved portion of the frequency band, and the information transmitted on the frequencies corresponding to the reserved portion of the frequency band can be handover signalling information.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for updating configuration attributes by transmitting a FastRepage Attribute in a wireless communication system is provided, comprising generating a FastRepage Attribute comprising an 8 bit Length field wherein the Length field indicates a value of length of the FastRepage attribute in octets excluding the length of Length field, an 8 bit AttributeID field, an 8 bit FastRepageEnabled field wherein the FastRepageEnabled field is set to a value ‘0x01’ to indicate that FastRepage is enabled and a 16 bit FastRepageInterval field, wherein the FastRepageInterval field indicates a value of interval at which an access network pages an access terminal when the access network does not receive a response to a page and transmitting the FastRepage attribute over a communication link. A method and apparatus is further provided for receiving and processing the FastRepage attribute.

Moreover, mechanisms are provided to notify mobile devices of pending data while avoiding latency associated with paging channels.

    摘要: Addressing methods and apparatus which use airlink resources in an efficient manner are described. In order to use airlink resources efficiently, a variety of address types are supported. The number of bits in the address may vary depending on the type. In order to support a variety of different address types, of different lengths, in one embodiment, an address used for communications over an airlink is constructed by including in the address an address type field used to communicate an address type indicator and, optionally, an address field used to communicate an address value. The address field is variable in length and may be null, requiring the communication of no bits in this field, for certain types of addresses. Four types of addresses which may be supported include: i) an Access Terminal assisted address, ii) a Network assisted address, 3) a Pilot PN based address; and 4) a reserved address.

    摘要: Softer handoff groups are provided utilizing fractional frequency reuse set, which can be managed by a single master sector that is part of the group. The group can based on handoff rules that can include a group indication by an access point or a group request by an access terminal. A terminal is provided functionality to select a softer handoff group, which can be indicated by an active set update. An access point can discontinue serving terminals by groups by reducing an active set size to one. Diversity can be provided such that if a transmission from one sector fades, the other sector can provide the transmission, mitigating loss of data. Thus, robustness against inadequate channel conditions can be obtained.

The method further includes ascertaining whether to handoff from one frequency member to another frequency member and can further include seamlessly handing off to the other frequency member.
