    摘要: A downhole tool is provided with a pressure-balancing piston disposed within an interior cylindrical bore to have exposure to fluid pressure within an internal fluid chamber on one side and exposure to hydrostatic pressure on the other side. The piston is movable in response to increasing hydrostatic pressure and causes an increase in fluid pressure within the internal fluid chamber in equalization of the internal fluid pressure to hydrostatic pressure. A mandrel telescopically positioned within the housing forms internal spaces defining an internal fluid chamber exterior to the mandrel and having an interior fluid chamber with fluid ports placing the interior fluid chamber and the fluid chamber exterior to the mandrel in communication. The mandrel has a first pressure area A1 in communication with the interior fluid chamber and a second pressure area A2 of substantially equal area to the first pressure area A1, whereby invasive gas pressure acting on the first and second pressure areas balance the mandrel.

    摘要: An apparatus is described for reducing coherent signal interference between at least two bit streams framed with a common clock signal. The apparatus includes an internal clock signal generated from the common clock signal and a Manchester encoder for encoding the internal clock signal with a unique signature. Also included is a logic AND-gate for combining one bit stream of the two bit streams with the encoded clock signal to produce an encoded output signal. When the encoded output signal is combined with another of the two bit streams during transmission, individual bits of the combined bit streams are identifiable at a receiving end. The receiving end decodes the combined bit streams and properly discriminates between ONEs and ZEROs.

    摘要: A cassette for containing a gel slab used in an electrophoresis separation comprises a pair of spaced glass or like material plates having spacer strips interposed between marginal side edge areas of the plates to define a space for containing a gel slab between the plates. The spacer strips are made of a flexible double rolled smooth finished polymeric, preferably polyvinyl chloride material which when used for such purpose function to interface under pressing pressure imposed thereon to exclude atmospheric air at the interface so that once interfaced with the plates, atmospheric air pressure acting on the plates maintains a pressed sealed interface condition effective to prevent liquid flow from a liquid-containing gel slab composition cast in the cassette sideways through the cassette during gelation of the composition. An assembly tool and method for effecting cassette assembly is provided.

    摘要: There is disclosed a tachycardia control pacer in which there is generated a sequence of pacing pulses at intervals which are a function of the effective refractory period intrinsically associated with the rate of the patient heartbeats. If the tachycardia episode is not terminated, another sequence of pulses is generated; however, the rate of the new sequence is decreased if at least one unevoked heartbeat was sensed during the preceding pacing pulse sequence and the rate is increased in the absence of any unevoked heartbeat having been sensed during the preceding pacing pulses sequence. Also, in order to smooth the transition between the fast pulses used to terminate the tachycardia episode and subsequent beating in sinus rhythm, pacing pulses continue to be generated at increasing pacing intervals until they merge into standby pacing.
